Idk I think its a fair trade

Thoughts? Any pieces to add, subtract?

As a Sabres fan montreal gets bent over in this trade. Meszaros is not what he used to be he is basically driving our tank. Kaleta isn't even an NHLer on any team not named Buffalo. Stewart may help MTL but they would be better off using Emelin and Eller to get legit help not a bunch of UFA's that have nothing left in the tank. In my mind its at least stewart + for one of those guys. But hey you can have them if you want i'd gladly take those two for that Sabres package. At this rate the sabres will be competing for the playoffs next year

Theres also a high probability that we get one of McEichel in the draft so with McEichel, Reinhart, and Girgensons (not to mention Grigorenko) at centre there's really no room for eller

The first time I saw this trade my reaction was the same as sabres14 (both comments). Then great john added his 2 cents. If his opinion is valid and MTL is looking at Eller and Emelin as unneeded spare parts then it makes it a plausible trade. MTL is looking for some toughness and depth to their defense. I agree completely with sabres14 about Kaleta, but Meszaros is playing really well, since NOV 11th he is only -2 averaging almost 17 min/gm and finally, look at my posts comparing Stewart to Lucic to see why Murray wants a 2nd and prospect for Stewart. Eller could be a really good PK 3rd line center winning key face-offs that BUF is very poor at doing. Maybe Eller & 2nd for Meszaros & Stewart makes more sense for both teams.

@Montrealfinest who are you referring to? I never said they were bad, I was lauding their worth. I merely said if they are extra, then it makes sense to bring in pieces that are more needed.

Habs better off keeping Emelin, Mezzaros isn't even worth a 7th rounder. Habs better off calling up Allen from AHL if it gets that bad with injures, besides with Tinrdo playing well, Habs don't even need to to deal for D, maybe add r-winger
& Habs GM won't trade Eller for a rental UGA guy. maybe Thomas and 5th rounder for Stewart.
