IF I were Bryan Murray, I'd make Ottawa a contender by the end of the trade deadline by getting a top 6 forward, a top 4 D and by also solidifying the teams depth.

trade 1
OTT: Marc Methot, Alex Chiasson, 2016 2nd Rd pick
EDM: Jordan Eberle

trade 2
OTT: 2016 1st, prospect (lindberg, Paul, Puempel)
NYR: Keith Yandle (Ottawa would be taking salary in, and NYR would be freeing up space to sign future players)

ASSUMING everyone is healthy, this would be OTT's line up:

Ryan - Zibanejad - Eberle
MacArthur - Pageau - Michalek
Smith - Lazar - Neil

How are the trade values? Fair not Fair? Ottawa might need to add a prospect or so for Eberle.

If Edmonton is trading Eberle it's for a different D, not Methot.

I disagree. I was actually hesitant to put Methot in there because he is Ottawas best shut down dman and probably their second most valuable defensemem next to Karl. He is super underrated for the defensive plays he makes away from the puck and is solid on the defensive zone. I think that's something that your team would be looking for. and obviously want and NEED. Also, you probably don't watch a lot of Sens hockey to not know Methot's value is.

Eberle on the other hand is having his worst season yet. EDM might as well trade him now before his value goes down. also edm has a lot of new young upcoming players (draisatl, McJesus, etc. ) that can easily replace him in your top 6. making eberle and RNH the expandable pieces.

Well of course you would disagree becasue your proposed trade has Ottawa comming out ahead. Actually Ottawa is in my top 4 for other teams i really like besides Edmonton, I have tickets for Ottawa at Edmonton already and my parents are from Ottawa, I also lived there for a year and went to about 10 games. Say whatever you need to make yourself feel like that's a good deal for Edm, but IF they are putting Eberle on the trading block I promise you that they would be targeting someone else. They would aim higher.

Also they have zero need for Chaisson, he is an RFA anywyas at seasons end but when McDavid, Yak and Probably Kassian get into the line up the 4th line will be Hendricks-Letestu-Korp with pretty well no room for Klikhammer, Lander, Gazdic. So what good is Chaisson to the Oilers?

As a sens fan, i'd rather have methot wayyy more than yandle, due to the fact that Methot and Karl complement eachothers game so well. and putting yandle on with karl would be 2 offensive defencemen together.

You say for ottawa to become a contender they need another top 6 fwd and another top 4 d, but your proposals you trade away Methot (considered a top 4 d) and then bring in Yandle (considered a top 4 d) . You still need to acquire a top 4 d.
