According to sources, the Toronto Maple Leafs have kicked the tires on Chicago Blackhawks forward Bryan Bickell. My trade thought:

Chicago Trades:
Bryan Bickell - 4.0 Million Cap (2 years)
David Rundblad - 1.05 Million Cap (2 years)
Marko Dano - 925K (2 years)
2nd Round Pick

Toronto Trades:
P. A Parenteau - 1.5 Million Cap (1 year)
Mark Arcobello - 1.1 Million Cap (1 year)
Brad Boyes - 700K Cap (1 year)

whadyall think?

Basically i thought this:

Parenteau = 2nd, Rundblad (he was waived so yeah)
Boyes and Arcobello = Dano, Bickell

Bickell has such negative value that I thought the leafs could snag a good prospect with him. 4 million in cap space doesn't come easy, but with this deal it would. Dano is a solid prospect who was supposed to play for the Hawks this season, but it didn't pan out. On the hawks he may be a 3rd liner, but with the leafs he could bump up to a second liner for now.

The leafs are trying to dump salary, why would they take a 4 million dollar 2nd/ 3rd line winger. Just doesn't make sense.

Leafs aren't trying to dump salary. There collecting draft picks. They take a bad contract and get a pick, young D and a good prospect.

Bickell is only signed through next year, not going to do dano for that, dano is too good to dump bickell, maybe Hartman or McNeil, dano is good enough to be an nhler this year, they'd rather him develop more. I think shaw would be a main piece going back with a lesser prospect and a pick, but more of a boedeker, pap not good enough for that return, chicago looking for a lw to play with toews and hossa, not 3rd and 4th liners.

Just none of those players would be top six, so don't know how it improves chicago this year, may as well buy out bickell next year and keep dano who will be top six.
