Just a thought I was having since the whole Evander Kane fiasco started. Since buffalo has said they would trade Kane if Vesey signs with them. As well Kanes stock has definitely dropped because of his off-ice issues. Here is an idea for a trade.

Buffalo - Kane
Oilers - Reinhart + 4th or 5th

Buffalo is looking for a lhd. Oilers have enough of them.

Oilers then do this trade.

Oilers - Pouliot

Dallas - Nichushkin

This helps Dallas on the left side with a solid LW

This helps Oilers with a 2nd line RW allowing Puljujärvi to develop a year in the AHL.


Would this trade work? What else would need to happen?

I'd legitimately do that not even going to lie. As much as I hate Kane for all this off ice stupid stuff, the guy is still pretty decent IF he wants to be. And it's at a low cost in my opinion. Can't really see Reinhart making Oilers because of the LHD depth.

And obviously I would take Nuke over Pouliot, maybe, but I can't see Dallas making this trade.

Nukes not signed yet but he is RFA. besides the point however. As much as I want to believe these trades could happen for the oilers I don't think it's realistic to think buff or dal move off those guys for so cheap.

I think the Kane deal needs to be yak + reinhart
The nuke deal needs to be Pouliott + a 3rd

I like the idea of oilers sending pulJ to ahl and play on the NA ice. Remember Magnus coming out of rookie camp and what a bust he ended up being. Don't do it Pete!

the oilers aren't going to trade for kane, They don't need his attitude to rub off on the younger guys.

I'm not the biggest Oiler fan, but as a Jet supporter I wouldn't wish that 25 year old going on 15 Kane on the Oilers. Edm. has too many young players that don't need a Kane type in the dressing room. Kane needs to go to a winning team with older leaders that he may respect. I say may as he doesn't seem to care about how his actions reflect on his team. When Buff put him in his place in Wpg. he pouted and pulled himself out of the playoff race to get an injury, that could have waited to be fixed, operated on. Its the old saying you can't tell a millionaire how to behave.
