Pretty sure Reilly and Gardiner are the only dmen that have to be protected. The others either don't have enough service time or will not be protected.

Gardiner and Loov are worth a decent amount more than Gormley and White. Gormley hasn't been able to stick in the NHL yet on multiple different teams with weak D men.

Wait why would the leafs need to expose Gardiner? Also Gardiner would be the best Dman on the devils and is currently the best on the leafs although Reilly is catching up.
