My take on the Oil Dallas trade that was posted earlier.

Oil: Eberle + 22 OA + Oesterle or Jones (if want a good prospect) + St Louis 3rd 2017

Stars: 3 OA + Niemi + Eakins

Basically Oilers take Niemi's contract and Dallas gets a dman which in my opinion could be playing in the NHL. He's further in his development than Reinhart and he will have a better chance with Dallas than Edmonton to crack the roster with oil being locked up on left side.
Oilers take more salary in this trade, and Dallas strengthens their RW after losing Sharp Hemsky Hudler and Eaves.

If you're going to continue to say Eberle has 0 or negative value please don't comment, that's getting old.

I think they can get Eberle without giving up the 3rd overall. I'm sure they don't really care about the rest.

Why would Edmonton take on Niemi's contract? It makes it even more difficult to do something in free agency. There is no point for Edmonton to trade up and get the third overall and THEY ARE NO LONGER REBUILDING and are looking for NHL-Ready pieces.

Eakin = Eberle (accept that Eberle is lazy and can barely produce)
22 overall, Oesterle + 3rd does not equal one year of Niemi and the third overall.

So Dallas is giving Eakin for Eberle (who have approx the same value, Eakin might even have more because of the contract) Eberle sucks in the Western Conference as he gets pushed around. 22nd overall and unproven prospect and a late third in a weak draft does not jump you 19 spots.

Declined. Eakins 12 points. HAHAHA No thanks! Pitlik had as many and played half the amount of games. Cheaper, better alternative. I'd rather keep Hendrix for 1/ 3rd of the Salary than give Eberle away for that!

The only pick the Oilers should need this year is the 1st rounder and they should draft the best tender available. In fact I hope the Oilers trade all the rest of their 2017 picks for 2018's or maybe depth AHL developing talent.

Please help stop with these give Eberle away for nothing trades. it's getting annoying already.
Chiralli IS NOT TRADING Eberle.

So few have noticed and it's good you've seen it too.
110% Agree with Osterle being NHL ready he's smooth with the puck and makes the right play with the puck 99.9% of the time. Can't believe Benning made the team before him. Uncle's pull I guess. *L*.

So Cody Eakin, a guy who has only reached 40 points once in his career, is equal to Eberle. Ok I'm done here idk why I come on here anymore.

Hinestly, I like it MJ.

Yeah Niemi is a big contract, but he's a 1 year figure, and hell, EDM could use an okay backup after Gustavsson flat-out failed. Plus, just say, Talbot gets i jured. Are you setting sail with just Laurent? Niemi would be decent insurance for the year.

Eberle + 22 gets 3rd overall, and add in Niemis cap dump so its fair. Eakin for Jones is fair, cause Eakin just had a down year, as did the entire Dallas Stars team.

Take out the 3rd from EDM. No need for it.

I like it buddy. 👍.

@McJesus

Oh yeah, it's all about the points and not the 52% faceoff win-rate.
And obviously not about the great ability to penalty kill.
Oh, and of course it's not the 3.8 cap hit for the next 2 season at age 27.

Lol Eberle and 22 for 3rd over all? That's more laughable then the original post.

I can see it making sense value wise, but with some of the free agents coming I do think the likelihood of this trade is very small. Dallas could easily use that pick to go to some teams that will be hurting from the expansion, like Anaheim or Minnesota for example, for defensemen. Just a fun idea though, especially as an Oilers fan.

so oilers make the playoffs, get to the second round, then still end up with a top 5 draft pick in the first round. hahahaha. yeaah it's close but that's hilarious, would be even funnier if you tried getting the 1st overall to edmonton.

@TB, I relatively don't think Edm Should do anything in free agnecy. The team as is got to one win away from the conference final. You still do get 2 million salary cap relief for the upcoming season (Eberle 6mil to Niemi 4mil) . Honestly, if EDM is adding someone, itd be like a 2 million dollar guy for one season to take Eberles spot. Cause if they make a splash, they may get screwed with the contracts of Drais and McD.

Although I do agree that you would want an NHL ready piece, remember, you are getting a stud dman (Heskinaien or Makar, idk which, I've heard good things about both) at number3 for the future. Although he may not be NHL ready, he is in the same age group as your core of Drais, McD, Pulj and Nurse. Klefbom and Larsson are a bit older, but theyd still be decent, not that old, vets once that dman (whoever they pick at 3) comes along. that's why I think that number 3 overall is a great idea for EDM, as theyd be able to unload salary over a term. Plus, if you are desperate for cap relief, trade away RNH or Eakin to free it up. Theyd bith garner returns, although RNH has a much hugher value than Eakin.

@FT4A
Why do you insist on keeping Eberle? Don't you understand that it will hurt your team more than it will help? Getting a value return such as this is a positive for EDM, not a negative,
