To Vancouver

Jesper Bratt @ 2.75 million (contract ends this year)

P.K. Subban @ 9.00 million (contract ends this yr)

2022 first round

To NJ

Brock Boeser @ 5.875 million (contract ends this year)

Connor Garland @ 4.95 million (4 mote years after this year)

This should work with Buroughs on LTIR, and Bowey and Hunt sent to minors.

NJ gets 2 young assets that make them a more competitive team for years to come. Vancouver cannot afford Boeser and Garland in the long term... they need cap relief.

Vancouver takes on a boat anchor of a cap hit in Subban. With Buroughs out Vancouver could use the defenseman. Bratt would be a reclamation project. Lastly Vancouver get cap flexibility at the end of the season... they have the option to resign him at a better AAV. Lastly, Vancouver gets the first and second round picks to offset the lost production of Boeser and Garland.

They give up nothing tho. going to cost something to get something.

VAN has Luongo’s 3M coming up after the season. Maybe they’ll have to look into shipping Hamonic to AZ with a pick. But trading Boeser and Garland for a 1st and cap space is not smart for there future.

I don't see why VAN trades 2 quality assets for a 1st and 2 expiring assets.

Chickenfoot is right.

Garland should be worth at least a first and there's probably some GM out there willing to pay a first and more for Boeser in spite of his terrible contract situation.

Do you guys know that Bratt is a RFA and is 23 yrs old. He’s also has 43 points in 45 games which is far better than both Garland and boeser. I would say the trade is pretty much fair seeing as how sun am comes off the books this off-season.

I'm a Vancouver fan, so I try not to be biased. but if a 2023 first or second. add it to what NJ gives. let git er done!

With Lou cap hit coming off. half of that goes to the buyouts of Virtanen and Holtby. cap flexibility IS an asset. As for the expiring contracts. they can be assets if resigned at the right price. cap hit and skill is what makes them an asset or not.

Wow didn’t know Bratts stats or that he was an RFA. With his cap, age and production he probably has at least as much value as the other two. Plus there 1st will be high. Makes me think it’ll be a no from Jersey. Maybe close though?

@Ebsolutely I missed that too.

That changes my mind. There's no way NJ gives up Bratt for that.

Subban and the first for Miller sure, maybe even for Boeser but Bratt has to be untouchable for now.

I love this trade for both sides. Devils use their cap space to add two high quality players. The Canucks add a high draft pick, which will be a huge help for them as high quality players on entry level contracts are necessary for contending teams. They can also trade Jesper Bratt for a 1st or 2nd with the production he’s put up this year. The Canucks also add about 10 million in cap space to add a replacement of equal quality to the players that left.

This would be a Good Trade for VAN actually: High 1st Round Pick + RFA Bratt is killing it this year + It Accomplishes Their Goal of Clearing Up A Ton of Cap Space

NJD only considers Boeser if they want a Top-4 Right Shot RW and believe their Top RW Prospects Holts, Zetterlund and Chase Stillman won't be NHL ready for a couple more years yet. They should look to Trade Veterans Tatar and Johnsson first, then Sharangovich and Boqvist before Bratt or Zacha.

I see NJD wanting a Cheaper Bottom-6 Penalty Killer like Tyler Motte over Garland; Nathan Bastian is playing well at RW + they'll need space on the RW for their Prospects to play. NJD have Cap Space and can Trade Subban (with retention) for a Pick in return themselves as well, so don't need to dump or give him away.

With a few moves, NJD is close to being a Dominant Team and Playoff Contender, so should be Buyers, not Sellers IMO.

That is one of the most insane offers ever. This makes no sense for the Canucks and is a huge rip.

That new Jersey 1st rounder should be a good one.

Jimmy j. did you read the whole post? The point of this trade is cap flexibility, and an rfa player. do you know how much it will cost to give Boeser a qualifying offer? Canucks cannot afford it. (7.05 million according to rutherford)

@BumbleBee

Boeser's qualifying offer is 7.5. It is pretty well established that he isn't asking for that and is looking at a more reasonable number (6 per is what I heard) .

Canucks also want to get younger. Bratt is not that young. He's also an RFA.

This deal isn't what the Canucks are looking to do.

A Boeser package for Zacha + is the way to go but those pieces aren't going to do it. Nobody gives up a top 6 winger for that return if the primary get is cap space. No chance.

@Frank2022

G. A. PPP SOG. SHP

Boeser. 15. 13. 11. 130. 1

Bratt. 14. 29. 11. 121. 0

What reference do you have for Boeser wanting 6 mill?

Jesper Bratt is also 23 years old, and an RFA as stated above. is he too old?

25 Feb 2022 16:50:15
Lots of reports are guessing approx. 6 for Boeser.

23 isn't old but he won't be cheap. Canucks are looking for cap space and young players/prospects that won't break the bank.

Bratt is a fine player but not what the Canucks need when trying to get some room under the cap.

They would be getting cap space by moving on from Boeser and Garland. would they not? Subbans contract is done this year. so they gain that back in cap space for next year. unless they decide to keep him at a WAYYY lower AAV.
