Jones signed long term is worth more than 1 year of marner. Cheaper and defenseman like Toronto needs. Not a chance chicago spends that much. I know you're super bias so send a 3rd rounder with Jones.

Jones has nmc and American so know i think he'd only maybe waive, marner is more likely to want out because all the crazies are blaming him for their loss. And if Toronto can get a top end defenseman for a more expensive forward, they're doing it. Forget the draft picks.

Jones without retention has extremely little value and debatably negative value. He’s overpaid and signed until he’s 37. Relying heavily on athleticism he won’t age well as a player.

Vbb, I agree with you. But Jones had been a norris candidate before he got to chicago. 9.5 is cheaper than 10.4 for next year, then guessing marner gets a raise past that. Toronto won't resign him but can upgrade the defense for cheaper. That was my thinking.

I can't see the Jets trading Ehlers for one year of an LHD to play behind Morrissey. They need RHD not LHD and it needs to be someone with term or at least team control.

Chychrun can and has played right side. I get what you’re saying about term. But Chychrun would be a great addition to the blue line. Providing Jets could lock him up long term. Or a possible sign and trade.

Muzza, all defenseman can play their offside, Chychrun just isn't any good at it.
But the main thing is that the Jets need a right shot defenseman. They can't keep trying to jamb a square peg into a round hole like they have been doing over the part few years.
It's time to try something different.

I was hoping that they would have traded Hellebuyck last year. Made Brossoit a starter.
Look at Brossoit's numbers. Not bad. Stamina would be the only question. Obviously have to find a quality backup.
Look at Hellebuyck's numbers. Great regular season stats. Poor playoff stats.
Personally think Jets made a mistake in signing him. Helps get to the playoffs. But nothing after that.

Don't want that contract in Montreal for all those years. PLD is not an old guy, but he's not a young kid just finding his way either. He's to up and down, and just not reliable enough. I think Habs dodged a bullet when they didn't get him from Jets, so, Hughes should stay the course and stay away from PLD.
