I desperately want Fantilli to be a Blue Jacket. Unless the price is just unreasonable Jarmo should be on the phone with the Ducks. I'd even go as far as #3,34,66 to the Ducks for #2. I think he's going to be that good, however, that's why the Ducks will probably take him. They already have 2 really young centers though

With PLD,Hellebuk, Scheifele, and Wheeler all leaving Winnipeg should just go for a full on rebuild. They could get a lot of good young pieces for those players

Was watching the Leafs Nation and they had Milan Lucic on, I think he’d do very well on the Leafs. Nobody would f*ck with the Matthews or Marner with Schenn and Lucic on their team. What do you Leafs fans think?

Treliving always builds from the net out so Leafs fans can look forward to a good blueline, Flames have always had a very good blueline under Tre but lacked consistent forwards (which Leafs have). Interesting to see what kind of moves he pulls off, Dubas didn't really leave him with a lot of draft picks lol

Clearly you don’t watch the leafs because the leafs have a DEEP defence probably 12 nhl caliber defence in there system but what they lack on defence is a offensive play driver like a Barrie or a Karlsson but there biggest need is forwards. The leafs forward group is awful. They have 4 forwards and the rest are laughable. Brodie, McCabe, Lilijgren, Timmons, Rielly, Schenn, Gustafson, Mete, Holl, Etc lots of fringe second pairing guys but what there lacking is a true number 1 dman.

No you’re right. But a player like Hanfin or even Pesce will not make the D any better they need a player like Josi, Doughty, Karlsson, Hedman, Slavin, etc a true Number 1 dman that play 25 min a night. They have enough good dman they need a great 1 is my point. You don’t acquire that through trade or free agency. You got to draft those type of dman.

Ekholm isn’t among the top tier D but he made a huge impact on Edmontons D core. Maybe just an underrated player though. I think a team can get by with a couple number 2/ 3 D. Nurse, Ekholm with Bouchard. Reilly and Pesce could be a good top pair no?

@vbb I didn’t mean to imply that the Leafs have a bad D core, I just mean that he always prioritizes his team’s defense so I wouldn’t be surprised if it looks even better than it does right now.

You mentioned consistent forwards tho which is the leafs biggest problem not defence or Goaltenting.
Yes Pesce and Rielly would be solid. It’d also allow Brodie to move down and create more depth but then you probably need to take away a forward like Nylander to make that happen now the forward group looks absolutely putrid. I think the leaf should move Marner or Nylander for futures then step back and retool. They just don’t have the forward Depth to win a cup imo.

Well the leafs just got rid of the best GM they had in their franchises history. I'm ready to hop onto a new bandwagon wagon at this point. Whoever gets him will be getting debatably the best GM in the NHL ( Yzerman probably has him beat. ) hoping John Chayka replaces him.

He found a way to fill a competitive roster with limited cap space and find the most out of cheap players. He made some mistakes but they were rookie mistakes that he will learn from.

Assuming that the Leafs don't pull off a massive comeback Dubas should be calling Arizona about a sign and trade of Matthews's for Cooley and #6 or #12. I truly don't know where Matthews value is at. Trade would improve Arizona's market with acquiring the hometown kid while still holding on to a piece like Keller to build with. Leafs get the much needed cap relief. A prospect who already has chemistry with our top prospect and another highere end draft pick. Guess it all depends on how much Arizona values that 8th year on the contract.
