detroit gives up a decent prospects and quincy as a cap dump , he's a also a decent dman. they give up these assets to pick up that elusive top 4 RD that we need. and we can send Marchenko back down to the grand rapids. or keep him around, another rd can't hurt eh?

Even if it is a fair deal, I have no idea if it is or not, the usual payment for a player of Petry's kind is a 1st round pick and a decent prospect or a roster player.

Edmonton says no, much to Holland's dismay (the GM, not. not the country)

Petry is no better than Kindl. Look at stats. Quinecy is very valuable on the PK. Ill do this.

I didn't say that was what he was worth, I'm saying that's what the Oilers would likely want for him.

@Leafs17 I'm a Canucks fan with an utter disdain for the Oilers, but their situation is intriguing and I like to see what works or whatnot.
