So not likely to happen, but pk's salary is a problem moving forward. He will be the highest paid defenseman in the league this season and well he's not the leagues best. Montreal showed last year they are nothing without price.

I think that to much from edm. They need a dman that is not a defensive gambler which pk is he is not even top 10 in the nhl. And nurse upside is huge can't give that away even if they took a dman at 4 they would be in good shape there in a few years.

Edmonton will not trade nurse, it would have to be a different d man, price paccio and chuck all have a raise coming, there is no way financially the habs can afford the players you have listed, this would be impossible, however i wish your wish list happens, although it wont.

Right away it frees up 2.5 mil and that's without signing gilbert as he's a ufa. So he leaves and you have over 5 mil to spend on another forward. I will agree with you though, the habs are in trouble with cap issues moving forward, especially when they will have to resign alex gal after this season, he will fetch around 5-6.5 a year if he continues to score and in 2 years price will need a new contract and he will fetch 8-10 a year.

Oilers are not going to give up Nurse. I would rework the trade to something like:

To MON: Hall, Yak, 4th

To EDM: Subban, 9th, Ghetto

That being said, I can't see a Subban deal going down because it leaves too big of a hole on D for Montreal but I can definitely see a deal going down between these two clubs at the draft involving Yak, draft pick swaps and prospects.

I don't think he's top 3 but definetly top 10 and he didn't make team Canada because Babcock absolutly wanted a D balanced with LHDs and RHDs. Same reason why Letang isn't on the team either. Hard to take Doughty, Burns or Weber's spot.

I think there are ten D that are top three arguably, you can't say this one is better then that one as they all bring different talents to there prospective teams there for I believe there are at least ten top three D in the league I would list them but that would be based on my own observation so I leave that to the individual, having said that subban is definetly one of those ten would you agree.
