Just curious why there is a 'believable' vote here. Only time 5 AHL players were traded for 1 NHL player I can think of was last season when the leafs sent 5 guys that were never going to make the next step, to the islanders for grabner. They took on an overpaid 3rd liner who's offense had dried up in exchange for roster spot flexibility. Never going to happen for a Goalie who has been in the vezina conversation for 3 straight years.

1) It's 5 AHL prospects, not random players
2) Grabner is actually a very good all-round player.

I don't think gretzkyghost was complimenting the trade, more pointing out how weak the Kings prospect pool is. Tampa has bishop, Tyler Johnson, drouin, palat all on expiring contracts and have been so close to the cup twice. They need to go for it now. Trading a great goalie for 3 mediocre prospects and 2 plugs doesn't get them closer, but knocks them much further away.

Mersch, Kempe and Gravel are argueably 3 of LA's top 5 prospects. Even if Quick is out for the season going after Bishop wouldn't make much sense.
