a good young D prospect is not even close to enough for leafs to take that Ladd deal. Panthers gave crouse to lose 3 years of Bolland at 5.5. Coyotes got to move up to get chuchryn in the first round to take 1 year of datsyuk. To take on 6 years of 5.5 for a guy who is unfortunately now a role player on the wrong side of 30 would cost far more thank pulock when leafs are sending back 2 young serviceable players in soshnikov and gauthier. Just be happy hey managed to get out of the Clarkson mess and don't make the same mistake.

Would look pretty stupid in a few years If you have to let a guy like nylander go because you're paying marner and Matthews big bucks and Ladd has nylanders money

You buyout Ladd at that time.
And its Matthews getting paid big bucks after Nylander.
Thats 3 Seasons away including this Season and you have Cizikas who plays great with MMartin and Pulock.
