*SJ retains 3,500.000 a year of EKarlsson's remaining contract.


EKarlsson has been out there for a few weeks now, he wants to go to a contender and SJ should get what they can for him as they aren't anywhere close to contention.

Liljegren and The 1st Rounder are the main pieces going to SJ, I can see The Sharks wanting The 2025 Pick more as Toronto might be in decline after next season.

Leafs not only add to their Cap but get a Game Changing Defenceman they haven't had in their entire history, if Treliving wants to put his stamp on The Leafs as GM this will do that huge.

Getting Karlsson at a cap controlled 8M cap hit for Liljegren and a 1st? Unloading Murray's contract on top of it? Very, very unlikely, you're getting a 100pt Norris winner with that weak offer.
That first is more than likely to be a late one and Liljegren is a 24 year old that struggles to crack the leafs top 4, even after close to 150 games of nhl experience.
This is not even close to being enticing from SJ's perspective and I'm sure they'll get way better offers as the season progresses.

We shall see, some pretty good players have been unloaded by bottom feeder teams like SJ for less.
GMs also do trades like this for The Player, again we will see if EKarlsson is traded what he is traded for.

My God pinball. Why do you think every team in the league wants to gift Toronto players? Toronto could maybe do something with nylander or marner and make an actual trade. Nylander and a 1st and 3rd with 2mil retained for the norris guy they absolutely don't have to trade for the reason of "let's go ahead and help Toronto "
