Apparently the Leafs are interested in a lot of Flames players but they are hesitant to trade with Treliving, which is odd. Nylander contract negotiations aren’t going well because it’s rumoured he wants 9-10 million, I think the Flames would most likely pay that price. Both Reinhart and Nylander’s fathers are former Flames, Nylander is from Calgary aswell. They want people who they think would stay. Backlund is exactly the type of player they need for the playoffs and at 50% retained salary I think he’d hold alot of value. Colorado is rumoured to be very interested in Backlund.

I’d do the Nylander trade if the flames took Murray or added a 2nd. Backlund makes a lot of sense but Hanfin wouldn’t be my 1st choice to target.

Replace Hanafin with Tanev. And I would argue that since you want CGY retaining salary that the 3rd would go the other way. And add Liljegren.

Maybe hanifan and backlund, no retention, but hanifin and backlund on great deal only if for 1 year, less than nylander by himself it sounds like. Can't see calgary retaining a cent on either contract unless nylander will take a bit less to play in calgary with extention in place.

@Shootsmcgee Nylander doesn’t seem like the type to take discounts lol Nylander is using Marner for contract comparison when realistically Nylander should get what Meier got.

Notcasual . Nylander may take a bit discount for going home, not much but if he wants to win, no go. hanifin and backlund are gone so maybe keep nylander for 1 year or more have a more complete roster. Truly would rather have both backlund and hanifin over nylander but both teams having troubles.
