Does the following address issues on both teams, and seem fair?

Tor:
Lupul and Franson

Pitt:

Letang and Sutter

Health risk def for oft injured forward, and swap RFA to address needs. Tor takes on some salary as well.

Would Martin instead of Letang be more fair?

IMO that's definitely favouring the Leafs.
Lupul < Sutter, Lupul is injury prone, Sutter isn't and Sutter is way younger and a 2C on a team not having Sid and Geno.
Letang > Franson, Despite his health issues, his upside is just so mich higher. If in shape, he's a top2 dman with 70+ pts potential.

So, IMO NO from the pens

I would do that from the Leafs Standpoint. Then you could trade Phaneuf and Biggs for Pavelski

Pitt wouldn't do this. Maybe Sutter for Franson +, but not with Letang.

Injury risk or not, Letang is Pitt's best d-man and Franson is a step down albeit, serviceable. Lupul would do well in Pitt playing with Gino, but so would most wingers. In that sense I doubt they see Lupul as a "need" addition, especially for there best d-man.

I would say switch letang with martin and then pittsburgh adds a pick.

Nor would SJ make the Phaneuf and Biggs trade for Pavelski.

Not a fair trade at all but I would take Lupul playing 2/3 of the games over Sutter any day. Franson is not even in the same league as Letang.
