Detroit: Howard
Calgary: 2nd or 3rd

Then try

Detroit: Quincey Helm
Toronto: 2nd or 3rd

Don't resign Richards then you have about 12 million dollars free

Sign Stamkos if he doesn't sign with Tampa Bay to 5-7 year 10.5 million a year.

Just an idea.

I feel like if 5-7 years at 10.5 got it done Stamkos would be signed already.

Unless he doesn't want to play for Tampa.

With the way he has played, Yzerman is rightfully not going to give him that kind of a contract, so have fun with that.

Really doubt the Leafs would move a draft pick for two veterans with their rebuild.

I can very much see Detroit somehow shedding Howard and Quincy in the off-season / draft, which would open up a ton of money to court FA's like Stamkos, but I can't see Helm leaving anytime soon. He hasn't been displaying his offensive grit lately but he's an invaluable PKer and his speed is an asset alongside aging vets like Datsyuk. I am reluctant to re-sign Richards as well but he's been playing really well lately.

I would love to have Stamkos on Detroit seeing as Dats and Z-berg aren't getting any younger.

Moving Howard is certainly plausible but in the off-season and Calgary would be an interested team. However, it will take more than just a 2nd/3rd for Howard.

Quincey could be traded at deadline or we just let him walk at year end. This frees up 9mill with just those two.

Probably will drop Richards (3 mill), Which hits close to 12 mill I believe.

Helm, i would like to re-sign him but may ask for too much.

Also Detroit has RFAs in Mrazek, Dekeyser, Marchenko, Sheahan and Pulkinninen to re-sign. That will still take a big chunk out of our freed cap space.

Moving Smith/Kindl would help but it might not be easy.

Bottom Line: Signing Stamkos is a possibility, Ken Holland should absolutely show interest in signing him. If he can make it work then that's great. I am not going to expect Stamkos to sign though because we need those RFAs a little more at the moment.

My Opinion:
From Stamkos's perspective, I would look to sign a quick 2 year deal with a cup contender and win a cup. Then go wherever I want.
