I read a report from a link on BR the other day that if Wings wanted Shattenkirk this would be the asking price:
to DET: Shattenkirk, Saari
to STL: Richards, Pulkkinen/ Mantha, 3rd.

Probably not enough for Shattenkirk. Richards is irrelevant, and I don't think Pulkkinen or Mantha are enough to bring out a #1 defenseman on their own.

As a Wings Fan, I would be perfectly ok with this deal and would even though one of our dmen in the deal so St. Louis doesn't have to lose out on all of Shattenkirk's ice time.
However being realistic, St. Louis would want way more for Shattenkirk and wouldn't be adding anything really but that depends on the pieces going back in the deal. In this case they add nothing.

Not enough for Shattenkirk. Would have to be a better piece then Richards or a higher pick.

I like Mantha and Pulk, but I do that in a heart beat if I'm the Wings. I doubt it's enough though.

Trade deadline deal:
DET: Howard, Smith, 2nd
ANA: Andersen, Fowler
First ever post here - just wanted to see what you guys think. Ducks in all likelyhood will be atleast within reach of making the playoffs and Howard gives them a consistent goalie - he's having a really solid season actually. Red Wings upgrade their D with Fowler. Thoughts?

Okay fair, just wanted to see what people thought. I do think Howard is significantly more valuable than Andersen and he's having an unreal year. What do you guys think about the recent rumours that the Wings would be a top contender for Stamkos if he didn't re-sign with Tampa? Trade-wise or what would the Wings have to do to make cap room?

I can very much see Detroit somehow shedding Howard and Quincy in the off-season / draft, which would open up a ton of money to court FA's like Stamkos, but I can't see Helm leaving anytime soon. He hasn't been displaying his offensive grit lately but he's an invaluable PKer and his speed is an asset alongside aging vets like Datsyuk. I am reluctant to re-sign Richards as well but he's been playing really well lately.

Your so-called "2 top 6 D" do not equal one top 2 D. Stralman has been unbelievable for Tampa Bay since his arrival, why on earth would they part with him? And don't get me started on the rest in an attempt for Stamkos. Jesus.

It's worth noting that RyJo is struggling under Torts because Torts is known for being resilient in pushing his stars to their max capacity. Babcock is exactly like this, and absolutely despises players who don't work hard, which is a known criticism of RyJo. Yes he's young and skilled, but would he really be a good fit in Toronto?
