To Winnipeg: nuge Davidson
To oilers: trouba little (jets retaine 1.5m in cap)

Jets get a young 2nd line center and a 24 left shot d who could be a top 4. Oilers take on a little of cap but get a right shot 22 year old dman who could be a top 2 one day (trouba would prob sign for 6mill a year) and a older 2nd line center who would take presser off the young guns in edminton. Only problem is littles ntc.

I think jets add a pick or something.

Pete, I'll wait for your call. Chevy.

2.) 28 Jul 2016 04:49:54
The whole expansion draft kinda makes things difficult.

3.) 28 Jul 2016 06:01:29
As much as I want Oilers to get another Dman, unless it's not a 1 year deal, having to protect 4 defenseman just make it so much more complicated. This sucks : ( but I'd do this trade, but then again I don't know how much Little makes.

4.) 28 Jul 2016 14:47:48
That would not be enough to get Little let alone Trouba.

5.) 28 Jul 2016 18:02:52
Man, what a strange post. Little is better than RNH look at the stats and Davidson is a joke being compared to Trouba. Then you have the gall to want the Jets to retain 1.5 in cap. This is a horribly one sided trade in Ed favor.

Which prospect do you want more on your team

Mathews or jack eichel

Marner or strome

Proverov or zack werinski

Laine or Jesse pujviarvi

Kyle Conner or Matthew barzal.

Craig button

1.) 06 Sep 2016 12:02:50
Matthews (biased)
Marner (not really bias just love his "wow" factor
Provorov
Laine
Connor.

2.) 06 Sep 2016 15:27:08
Eichel
Strome
Werenski
Laine (easily)
Conner.

3.) 06 Sep 2016 18:41:18
Eichel
Marner
Provorov
Laine
Conner.

4.) 06 Sep 2016 21:30:11
jack eichel more proven but Mathews may be better.

Marner ( proven a lot more then Strome )

Proverov

Laine

Kyle Conner.

5.) 07 Sep 2016 18:48:47
Eichel
Strome
Provorov
Jesse
Barzal.

6.) 07 Sep 2016 19:54:14
k99 i think the easiest choice out of all of these 5 is Connor over barzal haha

Matthews (biased, like VB said eichel is more proven but i think matthews will be better)
Marner he's had a way better ppg ratio than strome both years and just dominated. think itll be easier for strome to reach his potential but marners is definitely higher.
Provorov easily, just love the guy however werinski ain't nothing to snooze at
Laine he was the one battling matthews for 1st overall lol
connor god this guy is going to be good.

7.) 07 Sep 2016 20:37:57
Big Z
Some tough choices, especially when the players mentioned havn't even been able to make the NHL cut yet.

Eichel was neck and neck with a generational talent, so he gets the nod over Matthews who played in the Men's beer league. Yes Crawford has praise. No proof of his abilities shown. yet.

Strome didn't play on an overaged skilled team that won the league this year. I see him more like a steady Monohan type and Marner with a possible Comrie path in the NHL.

Provorov. Stud #1 D. nuff said

Coin flip on the 2 Finn's drop the puck and let's see who wins this head to head battle.

Didn't know enough about the other 2 so please feel free to dispute, point and laugh and mock my choice. I have no rebuttle on these 2.

8.) 08 Sep 2016 00:47:25
well that was a very mature response, i can respect that.

well of course they havnt made the nhl that's the fun of guessing who will be better haha

Connor absolutely destroyed the college ranks last year should have won the hobey but vesey got it because he was a senior or whatever you call it.
Dont get me wrong Barzal will be a top 6 guy but i'm almost 100% sure connor will become a top line winger

to the matthews point, the league in switzerland is a higher level than both college and the ohl, while playing with men also. he dominated.

your saying "neck and neck" with McDavid, pretty sure Eichel got 8 more points than mcdavid in 36 more games than mcdavid played, not really calling that neck and neck sorry. he did get 56 point however since 2010 all of : mackinnon, palat, gaudreau, forsberg, stone, couture, skinner have scored more points than him in their rookie years. So he didn't have the most amazing rookie year. honestly matthews might not have a better one, but I have hope :P

On the finns I see pulji being the better player however I see laine being a 40 goal guy (65-75 pts? ) getting all the limelight.

Will the flames make the playoffs next year? Maybe even a division spot not just wildcard.

Craig button

1.) 06 Sep 2016 09:13:35
I think there are 7teams in the west with locks in the playoffs. And Wild, Aves, Oilers, Flames and even the Jets fighting for the last spot. Arizona and Vancouver could surprise too, who knows. But for Oilers and Flames fans I think we need to cheer hard against the Wild this season!

2.) 07 Sep 2016 19:02:03
Very low percentage chance of playoffs in Flame land and almost 0 chance of top 3 unless most of the teams in the division suffers multiple long term injuries to their key players on their rosters.

30th ranked D that's highly over rated.
30th PK
2/ 3's of a scoring line provides minimal secondary scoring which the good teams have. Size of the team isn't up to Pacific Division standards.

Sorry, but the Anomolous Fluke of 14/ 15 of all players playing above their head will not continue. Fluke late 3rd period ping pong in off 3 defenders and a post type goals is not probable to sustain for long term success. lack of depth ( very few injuries last year to key players which karma gets even for eventually only allowed the Flames to finish 5th in the division) all spell 6th place in the Pacific this year. Would have been 7th if not for the Canucks major roster blunders this year.

3.) 07 Sep 2016 20:10:04
Ooofffffffff k99 calm your balls

let me ask you how bad were the flames goalies last year? almost a full 15% sv% worse than the next worse Carolina with .905% (i pretty sure dkm)

lets go over this "30th ranked d core that's highly overrated": 1. Giordano oh yeah he's a 4th defenceman on any other team 2. Brodie, pssh this guy isn't a top pairing guy no way 3. Hamilton is a bust yup. 4. Wideman, pshh over the hill 7th dman 5. jokipaka, lol that name makes him a worthy top pairing d guy 6. Engeland okay i admit defeat he is a 6th defenceman.

okay now for real Giordan is a top 15 d guy in the league (#1 dman), Brodie imo is in the 25-40 range so that's a #2 guy borderline #1, i think hamilton is also here so a #2 dman. wideman, yeah sure a #4 guy but still a top 4 player. jokipaka and engeyland is a decent 3rd pairing. So now with this d core and a good goalie ala Elliot I think they will be very very good.

Monahan Gaudreau are only getting better and bennet got his first season under his belt. backlund, frolik and the rest of the forwards core is good but won't blow you away, but with the elite talent in the top of the line up, a great d core and a more than competant goalie i can see this team competing for a playoff spot for sure.

4.) 07 Sep 2016 23:53:43
BigZ.
Flames goal tending was par with the league last year. The goal tending is an excuse drummed up by the media that Flames fans clinged to in hopes that their team was better than it was. Tending was not the problem in Calgary as not Price himself could have saved some of the goals allowed with the grade AAA chances the 30th D gave up.

Hamilton is over rated immensely and only made a name for himself by being associated with the Seguin / Kessel fiasco. He couldn't be sent out of Boston fast enough. He is only 22 so still can make a name for himself in the NHL but is currently vastly overpaid for what he provided.

Bennett may be a year more experienced, but Gio is a year older to offset any progress.

Bennett plays a 3rd liner game and is suited to that role. He got pushed up to a 2nd line role by the lack of depth at forward. Frolik is a finiky player like ol Kovalev used to be. Can play well. if he feels like it. if not. meh coast.

Little J hasn't even been signed yet either compounding the problem. Monohan may be content with his big pay day and not produce to the levels of pre-contract signing. time will tell.

Getting rid of the coach that got 150% out of the players to get into the playoffs 14/ 15 I think was a mistake.

1 thing for sure. if even 1 of little J, Monohan, GIo, Brodie gets hurt, the team doesn't have the depth to recover.

I'm sorry, but the Flames need to goto the draft table to get 4 more top 6 forwards added to become playoff contenders. One line can't carry a team. IF Tkachuk can step into the lineup. That's a good thing for the flames. then they only need 3 more top 6 forwards.

Sorry. I just don't see it happening, especially with the teams in the Division they have to beat out that have size, more than 1 scoring line and depth.
