THey really shouldn't do this. Talbot played well, but behind the NY D. Scrivens played very good behind the LA D, as well. Now, everyones bashing him as the leagues worst starter. Talbot could easily turn out to be the same.

So the Oilers have opted NOT to resign Derek Roy. Now I'm lead to believe they are going to try really hard to acquire Soderberg. he's much more the type of center the Oilers need. Bigger, Stronger, Faster, Younger, and much better defensively. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I feel the Oilers still need a bonafide second line LW. I feel like Pouliot should be on the third. And I feel like they need a bonafide third line RW. i'm assuming first line would be Hall-mcdavid-Eberle second would be what? Pouliot-Nuge-yak?

When Hall was injured last year Pouliot, Nuge and Ebs played well together.

Joel Ward hasn't had any contract talks with Washington yet. He could be a good RW to pick up. After seeing Mclellan put Hall-Crosby-Eberle on the same line for team Canada. Leads me to believe he will put Hall-Mcdavid-Eberle first line. but I guess we really need to see what happens in the Off season.Sign Ward and Soderbeg. Really need a Second line LW. that's why I'd like to see them make a trade for Sharp. There is so much depth on every team that has won the cup since 2006. Edmonton has some good forward but still needs a couple more. If they had lines like .
1. Hall-McDavid_Eberle
2. Sharp-Nuge-Ward
3. Pouliot-Soderberg-Yak
4. Hendricks-Lander-?
Oilers would probably have to lose some contracts of guys like Gordon, Purcell, Nikitin. maybe Fayne to make cap space. especially if they want to add some defense and a goalie. But that's an offense with depth that coupld compete for the cup

Would hate to see the wagon line split up. Lander can handle 3rd line Center if Roy isn't resigned or he can be a nice trade chip.

Yeah. a lot of guessing what's going to happen with this team. Still lots of work that needs to be done. I just hope there is only smart beneficial moves made this off season. Nothing stupid. please! Need to see some good free agent signings. I would love to see them give Hamilton an offer sheet. Kid is a beast!

So I may have jumped the gun on the Roy thing. There was an article in the Edmonton Journal that says the Oilers probably won't resign Roy because they have McDavid, Nuge, Lander, Gordon and Draisaitl for centers. doesn't necessarily mean they have chosen not too. Who knows. maybe they will just move Lander up to 3rd line center and keep him there instead of trying to find a replacement. Oilers do have a lot of pricey contracts that aren't doing them any favors.

Not sure Roy would fetch a hockey puck in a trade. No body wanted this guy. that's how he ended up in Edmonton. he's pretty much a broken man #Rusev (had to throw that in there)hes not half as good as he used to be. he's knees are busted and as a result he's pretty much one of the slowest skaters in the NHL. Edmonton was his lost shot at playing. don't forget. we got him from the Preds for Arcobello :/ maybe another team would give him a shot but no one would trade for him seeing as he is a UFA July 1st. he was playing for a million bucks . In Edmonton.

I saw a rumor on another site suggesting that Edmonton may trade Eberle to Nashville for a defense man and a prospect. I'm not so sure about this unless that defense man is Jones. If not, then I don't really see it happening. I guess Roman Josi is a possibility but you would think Nashville wants to improve and keep as much offense as they can where as Edmonton is the opposite. They need defense everywhere. I think Jones would be the more appropriate defense man for the Oilers. so if the Oilers were to trade Eberle for A d-man why would they go for an offensive one. The other reason I don't see it happening is the Oilers have no right wingers. Eberle and Yakupov. then Purcell. we need an upgrade for Purcell already so I can't imagine trading Eberle unless we have another first/secon line winger coming in from somewhere else

Im not saying Eberle is worth more than Josi. I just don't see Nashville trying to move him. and Edmonton needs more shut down style D. IMO. Jones would be a good pick up though

I would like to see the Oilers use their 16th pick to acquire Patrick Sharp and sign Soderberg.
Hall-McDavid-Eberle
Sharp-Nuge-Yakupov
Poulliot-Soderberg-Purcell
Hendricks-Gordon-Fraser/Pitlick
Make an Offer sheet for Dougie Hamilton and try to sign one of Oduya, Sekera, Franson, Vochenkov, or Beauchemin.
Not too sure what they could do for a Goalie. apparently they have inquired about Lehner which would take a prospect and second rounder. Personally I would love to see the Oilers get Ramo.
My wish list Sharp, Soderberg, Hamilton, Oduya and Ramo. I won't hold my breath though lol

I think Roy will do just fine as 3rd center. I'm not against Sharp but I don't think he's too important. If we can sign Hamilton we wouldn't need to sign another d to an overpriced contract. Samsonov can be picked with the 16th and agreed Lenher for a 2nd and prospect would be alright.

I really like the idea of Sharp and Oduya because they have way more experience than anyone currently playing for the Oilers. They would help bring a little more leadership to to the team as well. I really like the idea of Sharp and Soderberg because they both have great defensive game. Edmonton hurts defensively everywhere up front and in the back. Plus Soderberg is what. 29, 6'3 and 215lbs. Roy wasn't bad but he's 32 a little beat up 5'9 185lbs and very slow skater. Not someone I see the Oilers moving forward with. if they do maybe only for another year. Switching out players every year doesn't really help that much.

Yeah at one point I really thought Lander had a lot of potential but i'm not convinced he's going to pan out to be anything special. just a typical small Swedish forward. pretty small, pretty soft, okay hands with a little speed. Soderber would eventually fill the fourth line center when Draisaitl can take the third. or maybe you can switch Soderberg to the wing. think he used to play right wing too. be better than Purcell that's for sure

I would say its an over payment. Although it would be to have Marleau on Ottawa for a couple years. I wouldn't want my 18th overall pick to be a part of that trade. Marleau is 35 so at best he has maybe 3 years left and its not likely they are going to be the best years of his career. With a draft so deep this year there is a possibility that 18th pick could be a Marleau of the future. I would do it for Greening and Lehner :D
