As much as I hate to admit it the Arizona Coyotes are looking pretty good right now and look like they could make a good playoff push. Louis Domingue has been solid but I think that they could use some veteran help in the crease other than Mike Smith who has played terribly when he's been healthy this year. So here is a way they could do that

Arizona: G Cam Ward

Carolina: G Anders Lindback, 2016 1st round (NYR), 2017 3rd round

This gives the totes the option to have a nice tandem going into the playoffs and gives Eddie Lack the starting job that he deserves and has earned.

Arizona is then going to have to turn their attention to Mike Smith who has declined a whole lot and needs a change on pace for his sake and the teams so:

Islanders: 3rd round 2017, 6th round 2016

Arizona: Mike Smith (2.5M retained)

This gives the islanders a guy that they can hand some games off too because they rely a lot on Halak right now. And with the retained salary his cap numbers are a lot friendlier if the isles want to move him in the summer. Arizona isn't going to get away with tradeing Smith at this point without retaining at least that much. Thoughts?

Greiss is NYI's back up at has performed exceptionally and isn't paid a lot. going to have to be a team that actually needs Smith.

2.) 20 Jan 2016 19:30:27
smith to Toronto would maybe work.

3.) 20 Jan 2016 19:33:07
JF12 I completely understand that I was trying to provide an example of the price tag that Smith would command and that the yotes would have to retain a lot in order to trade his contract. Other team that may be interested or that I could see at least inquiring about such a trade are

San Jose
Toronto (if Bernier is moved)
Winnipeg.

4.) 20 Jan 2016 19:36:04
I could also see them outing smith in the deal with the canes and keeping Lindback.

5.) 20 Jan 2016 19:39:36
Why would Winnipeg inquire about smith.

6.) 20 Jan 2016 21:16:49
I Cheer for the Islanders most of the time, but That's definitely not enough for smith.

7.) 21 Jan 2016 01:51:05
They wouldn't give up a first for Ward. Even though there killing it there still in rebuild.

8.) 21 Jan 2016 05:01:35
^ and ward blows.

He got sent through waivers if the Nucks want him back they'll claim him.

Van: Johansen

CBJ: Vrbata, Guance, 2nd round 2016, Shinkaruk, Prust, Pedan

I think that this is fair because Columbus adds a lot of talent through this trade and some help in every department. Vrbata is a top 6 forward and can help add offence. Prust brings a lot to a team like leadership and is one of the best grinders in the league. They also add some young players with a ton of upside.

Only Value going to Columbus is Shinkaruk and a 2nd. Vrbata might be good for a playoff team he's like 33 and is a UFA at the end of the year. Adding prust "the best grinder" won't change this lol VAN adds.

2.) 16 Dec 2015 02:58:12
Do you even watch hockey? That's totally fair value!

3.) 16 Dec 2015 03:49:24
Not saying value is fair still, but Gaunce and Pedan have value, probably around a second for each. Gaunce is in his second pro season and looks like he's ready to break in, and Pedan in close too.

4.) 16 Dec 2015 05:17:47
mooseknuckles is a genius this trade is totally fair. you guys don't know hockey. prust is an amazing leader vrbata can help bluejackets try to make the playoffs and those rookies have lots of potenial. Anyway this is also a good trade because the blue jackets want to trade johansen because tortella is stupid

5.) 16 Dec 2015 06:22:54
Thanks penguin3217 it's nice to know that there are hockey fans that actually know a thing about the game unlike "bud. " Some of these guys like him would think that what the Canucks give away in that trade has less value then a bag a pucks and Crosby's stick tape!

6.) 16 Dec 2015 06:48:52
Bud is absolutely right. Couple of those prospects might have value but when in comparison to Johansen they don't really. Vrbata wouldn't get Columbus into the playoffs and Prust can have all the leadership he wants, doesn't make his value anything decent in a young number one center trade.

7.) 16 Dec 2015 12:52:30
When you "acquire" Johansen you will need to give up one of McCann, Virtanen, or Horvat guaranteed. See no reason why Columbus would trade Johansen for that.

8.) 16 Dec 2015 16:36:11
Wow the people without hockey brains are uniting on one post! Bud is completely right.

9.) 17 Dec 2015 00:22:54
JF12 the problem with you is your a maple leafs fan

10.) 17 Dec 2015 00:26:43
JF12 and bud u guys are huge Don Cherry fans right i mean people who don't understand value in hockey usually are the ones to listen to Cherry"s statistics.

11.) 17 Dec 2015 02:10:48
JF12 your saying me and mooseknuckle stupid when it comes to hockey because your the one who said earlier that the sedins are 38

Van: Yandle

NYR: Weber, 2nd round (via CBJ)

Fair?

mooseknuckles

1.) 15 Dec 2015 21:11:08
For what the Rangers gave up for Yandle last year, no. Unless its a fantastic trade they won't move Yandle they are trying for the cup that's why they traded for him in the first place.

2.) 16 Dec 2015 04:35:10
Honestly Yandle is one of there best D I think. Keep in mind I don't watch them except the couple against the Oil. McDonagh might be there best defensively but Yandle is a pretty solid two way D.

3.) 16 Dec 2015 05:21:07
this trade is fair because yandle is a free agent who will most likely won't be signed

4.) 16 Dec 2015 15:35:49
Weber sucks though. Your basically saying Yandle for a 2nd.
