Here’s one that opens for a good discussion:

Leafs- Mitch Marner

Jackets- Seth Jones

This could be a 1 for 1 or other pieces included.

It’ll surely be of cap relief for Toronto and they get a #1 dman. Imo leafs need to add something more.

Thoughts on something like this?

1.) 30 May 2019 01:00:17
I’d like it Marner would be a tough loss tho.

2.) 30 May 2019 01:56:49
I think this deal would help both teams but the Jackets would have to add.

3.) 30 May 2019 03:54:06
This is deffinetley interesting., I don't think Leafs need to add, as Marner is going to be a 90 -100 point guy for the next 10 years or so .
However, I do think a better more even trade is Mathews for Jones.

4.) 30 May 2019 09:43:24
CBJ would never do it, but for discussion's sake I would agree Toronto adds.

Maybe Sandin or a 1st plus Marner might make them think about it. But an elite 1RHD is worth more than a very good winger. Marner has only put up elite numbers once, so I wouldn't classify him as elite yet.

5.) 30 May 2019 09:44:47
So you think Marner is more valuable than Matthews?

6.) 30 May 2019 09:45:05
Leafs do need to add. #1D (and Jones is easily a top 10 overall D in the league, probably top 5) are worth a bit more than #1 Ws.
Apart from that, Jones is already signed to a super team-friendly deal at 5.4m. Marner will probably get twice the money.
So yes, TOR def adds.

7.) 30 May 2019 09:48:40
A perfect 1 for 1 trade, Marner may be a constant potential 100 point guy, but #1 RHD like Jones have tones of value themselves, I don’t think anyone adds to this.

8.) 30 May 2019 13:07:25
Marner would be the best player on the jets with all do respect to Schifele he is definitely elite. Same level as Kucherov/ Kane or he will be very soon.

9.) 30 May 2019 14:11:51
the fact that Mitch Marner and his agents are asking for so much, this would be believable because what do the leafs need, DEFENCE. and with Seth Jones being a gritty, offensive defenceman, he would fit in perfectly on Morgan Reilly's right side.

10.) 30 May 2019 14:17:56
Yeah i don't see the CBJ trading a #1RHD that gets 50 60 points for marner who wants 11-12 mil a year.

11.) 30 May 2019 16:11:21
Mcjesus, I think that Marner is more consistent. however it is early in there careers . Mathews is the more explosive player, but he has a tendency to have a big game, then nothing for 3 or 4.
I think with Tavares already there, they have their Star Centerman, keep your star Winger, now ya have 2 star Dmen, and a top 10 goalie. not a bad nucleus for a cup.

12.) 30 May 2019 16:25:08
Dont really see cbj doing that. Doubtful but maybe can still resign panarin who is a little bit older version of marner. Young #1 de are a lot harder to come by than 1st line wingers. Would think Toronto would add just based on contracts even if they're even value straight up skill wise.

13.) 01 Jun 2019 09:04:21
Fair enough Sosa, I think one of Matthews or Marner will definitely be traded. There’s no way they have 3 forwards making 11+ mil and be successful. I can’t see it.

25 May 2019 12:13:39
Oil: Russell

Tampa: Miller

Oilers move out a D for a young guy to come in, take on more cap but get a potential top 6 player.

Tampa clears cap and they get a serviceable defenseman as they currently don’t have many under contract.

1.) 25 May 2019 17:47:23
Russell is overpaid, and really a 3rd pair D man. Not worth saving the 1 mill and value of the players isn’t really close. Tampa has their top 4 still locked up next year I doubt they’ll over spend on a bottom pair guy and give up a valuable asset to do it.

2.) 25 May 2019 17:50:13
Miller isn’t potential top 6, he’s legit top 6. Last year was the first time since 14-15 he did have 20 goals or 50 points and that’s because he didn’t get PP time and was used pretty strictly in a bottom 6 role. And he still had 47 points.

3.) 25 May 2019 18:30:37
Not even close. Miller has way more value.

4.) 25 May 2019 19:41:08
Miller would cost a 2nd round pick and no cap going to Tampa. Tampa will probably basically need to give Miller, Palat, Johnson, Callahan And Killhorn away to get Karlsson.

5.) 25 May 2019 22:41:17
I’d definitely trade a second for Miller. I’m thinking he’d cost more than that. I agree Killhorn and Johnson are going to be traded for sure I’d assume though.

6.) 25 May 2019 23:25:03
To clear cap for Karlsson Tampa needs to dump Callahan and trade 1 or 2 of Palat Miller Killorn Gourde or Johnson (my preference in that order) . Might have to make more moves next year for resignings but for next season that’s about all they’d have to do.

21 Apr 2019 01:55:03
Leafs: Kadri

Oil: Larsson

From an article. How’s the value here.

1.) 21 Apr 2019 05:14:05
It’s not bad imo.

2.) 21 Apr 2019 13:58:49
Edmonton has too many centers i'd say a package starting with Kapanen maybe? Larsson for Kapanen + Brown?

3.) 21 Apr 2019 14:19:04
Leafs would trade Kapanen for a better Dman Larsson is not that valuable.

4.) 21 Apr 2019 21:46:04
He would be the best rhd that leafs have.

5.) 21 Apr 2019 22:23:09
Ok thrasher guy with a career high of 44 points is way more valuable than Larsson .

6.) 21 Apr 2019 22:24:24
Trasher, larsson is a very good top 4 rhd. he's the shutdown dman that the leafs need, would be your 2nd best defencemen

27 Feb 2019 05:27:13
Based off a rumor:

Oil: Benning

Leafs: Brown.

1.) 27 Feb 2019 15:32:02
from what i read to (most likely same thing), i believe oilers offered kassian for brown but then leafs countered with brown for benning or khaira and then that's when it fell through. i'm surprised oilers wouldn't have done the benning deal, but then again gretz said he didn't want to trade away petro for nothing so we have another dman if injuries arise. Could be a summer trade.

2.) 27 Feb 2019 16:15:50
Leafs wanted pick aswell that's where it went off the rails.

3.) 27 Feb 2019 18:06:46
Mike, a pick along with who from the oilers? if you know.

4.) 27 Feb 2019 18:19:06
I think brown and benning was the main part but leafs wanted a pick to do that they like brown a lot but word is they also like that big winger kaira or whatever his name is.
I would not be surprised to see a brown benning deal in the summer makes a lot of sense for the oilers look at brown and mcdavid numbers together in jr so for a little cost I think it's worth the chance to see if they could form that again.

5.) 28 Feb 2019 09:08:37
Nah @MJ from what I saw, apperantky this was the Oilers original offer, and the Leafs declined it. Talks became something like Brown+++ for Larsson after (I read this on IG/ Twitter, don’t shoot the messenger😂)

6.) 28 Feb 2019 10:54:52
Lol Brown+++ for Larson. Brown was worth something when he went in the corners and played a tough game. Now he dosnt do so anymore and plays soft ( that's coming from a huge leafs fan at work that was making fun of me when mtl loss to Toronto on Saturday lol)

7.) 28 Feb 2019 11:44:22
Lol @boom i was in awe when i saw it myself, my personal vaulation is a third or like a Matt Benning type.

8.) 28 Feb 2019 15:24:39
Topshelf, i saw that tweet and bob stauffer (oilers main media guy i listen to) said not at any point during discussions was larsson brought up and the guy who leaked that is a bruins guy media haha. The only way oilers would trade larsson to toronto is for nylander or kapanen + but oilers would need to equal out the cap.

9.) 28 Feb 2019 21:29:46
Ohhh yeah makes more sense @N, was j crazy to hear it.

10.) 01 Mar 2019 15:24:44
I think we could really use Brown, but I have doubts Leafs would want Benning when they are only trading Brown to free up cap space. They already have enough defensemen in the minors ready to play in the nhl. They don’t need another depth guy. They need a top line guy.

25 Feb 2019 15:37:04
Hayes to Winnipeg for a 2019 1st, Lemieux and a conditional pick.

Lol islandjet and Marcus.

But I’ll admit this caught me off guard, Rangers got a better package than I originally posted (Stanley instead) . Good on rangers.

1.) 25 Feb 2019 16:09:28
Too bad the Jets lost Lemieux as I liked how he played but the Jet have a lot of depth at forward. I have faith in Chevy that he thinks that Hayes is worth what he gave up in this trade. The trade experts believe that this is a great trade for the Jets, considering what they gave up.

2.) 25 Feb 2019 16:11:36
Surprised they gave up a roster player.

3.) 25 Feb 2019 16:53:57
Good deal for Winnipeg. Payed fair value for a rental and didn't get suckered into overpaying for Stone.

4.) 25 Feb 2019 17:07:31
I’m a little rattled we lost Lemieux. I wish we traded Petan instead.

5.) 25 Feb 2019 17:17:34
‘Hayes is worth a 2nd and a B prospect’

*returns lemieux who is much better than petan and is in the stanley-esque conversation and a 1st*.

6.) 25 Feb 2019 17:20:32
I think it could turn out really good for Jets if Hayes resigns there, but great return for Rangers.

7.) 25 Feb 2019 17:43:05
Haha Jaxon, I'm sure every jets fan wishes they traded petan instead, but he's not really worth anything.

8.) 25 Feb 2019 17:54:01
Really turned around from Jets won’t trade a 1st for any rental to its a pretty good deal eh.

9.) 25 Feb 2019 17:59:55
This can’t be right. how was the god Petan not included?! There has no be an error right?! He’s so good right WPG fans? A true A+ prospect which is why you’re always so eager to get rid of him right?

. ah, no that’s right, I remember now. Petan is worthless, who woulda guessed huh?

10.) 25 Feb 2019 18:08:38
No Jet fan ever said the Jets wouldn't trade their first for a rental. I was pretty close to value here, I figured on a 2nd and B prospect. We ended up giving a 1st and a 13 forward/ middling 4th liner. I like that we didn't have to give up a prospect here.

11.) 25 Feb 2019 18:13:36
How is Lemieux Stanley-Esque. Lemieux is probably going to be a 4th liner for life. Stanley is projected to be top 4. And before someone says he hasn't done anything. Neither had morissey at his age.

12.) 25 Feb 2019 18:21:21
pfffft "I was pretty close to value here"

lol get bent you were out to lunch.

13.) 25 Feb 2019 19:33:45
Some people are just terrible at values. Thinking the Jets gave up a bunch lol. I guess that's true if you don't understand hockey. A 4th liner and a late first. What a haul! Lol

Guys that think this was a haul are guys you want to deal with. 😆.

14.) 25 Feb 2019 20:44:27
You're just upset you were wrong all along and then got called out for it, justify all you want bud lol.

15.) 25 Feb 2019 20:56:05
Guess petans value was par lindholm lol.

16.) 25 Feb 2019 21:03:18
Well the leafs are the big winners with Petan. That should tip the scales in the leafs favour over any team in the East. On the bright side for the Jets, Lindholm is the newest untouchable.

Kadri is poor and I hate him but would like to see thoughts on value here, taken from an article:

Oil: Larsson

Leafs: Kadri.

1.) 15 Apr 2019 18:58:47
As much a Kadri brings to a team he is a liability because the next undisciplined play would lead to a 10+ game suspension. This alone brings down Kadri's value.

2.) 15 Apr 2019 18:55:15
I think I would value Larsson more just speaking from a value standpoint. Kadri is on a good contract for the next 2 years I believe and will be hard to resign at a good deal while he starts to decline.
From a team standpoint, I don't think the oilers would want Kadri and should keep Larsson. Not to say that another team might be interested at a similar cost for team needs.

16 Nov 2018 20:01:11
Oil: Strome

Pitt: Rust.

1.) 16 Nov 2018 21:06:37
Apparently Strome just went for Spooner.
What does everyone think . ?
Just 2 guys in need of a change?

2.) 16 Nov 2018 21:26:33
Spooner instead my man.
Both players 1G and 1A this season. Both need a change. I like it. I was wanting to add something to Strome for Tofoli myself because I read a week ago LAK might be interested in Strome but I wanted any little minor trade to shake it up a little. They say both coach and GM jobs are safe, make a minor trade to shake the room up.
Spooner $4M for this and next year. NYR retains $900K
Strome $3.1M this and next year.

I would have liked Rust as well but at least Spooner replaces Strome at 3C probably.

3.) 16 Nov 2018 21:30:58
Kinda like the Hagelin for Pearson I guess. Very different players but probably similar in value. Not bad, just that Rust has come up huge in big games for the Pens over the past few playoffs, I think he’s one of those clutch guys that has more value within his own organization than outside. But who knows.

4.) 16 Nov 2018 21:39:02
Just saw strome was traded for spooner. Not sure on value of him either, I know he was a decent up and comer on the bruins before the Nash trade but reading the comments, rangers fans seem happy. Saying they got Strome who has better numbers across the board, and $3.1 mill isn’t cheap for him, but $4 mill for spooner is far worse. Both have this season and next left. Is that not a pretty lateral move at best for oilers being so close to the Cap?

5.) 16 Nov 2018 23:23:45
NYR retain $900K so they aren't saving any money Jim. Oilers still paying the same $3.1M For Spooner as they were Strome.
Spooner was drafted by Chia and Spooner and Lucic were on Boston at the same time so I like a little connection there.
I think it's just like Pitt-LAK trade. One for one change of scenery. Should see more of these type of change up when guys are struggling. Small risk high reward deals of the guy can turn it around.

6.) 16 Nov 2018 23:34:47
If the coach and GMs jobs are safe then I'm glad they made a little shake up in another way. I was hoping for a minor trade for a week or two now. Also playing 4-1 Koskinen tomorrow in Calgary. Two good decisions in the same day. Kinda messed up as an Oiler fan 😜🍻✊🏿.

7.) 17 Nov 2018 00:20:03
Yeah, just read the retention part. Makes more sense. I guess the rangers fans I was reading hadn’t heard about the retention either lol if spooner can maybe have some chemistry with lucic it would be worth it for sure.

8.) 17 Nov 2018 02:42:12
Saw this on the buzz as well. So after all the dust has settled:

To NYI: Mathew Barzal, Anthony Beauvillier, Jordan Eberle

To EDM: Ryan Spooner, 2019 3rd rounder

9.) 17 Nov 2018 14:55:34
Who's to say the Oilers would have taken Barzel wth that pick? I haven't seen the scouts lists from that draft, have you? You could honestly say this about every draft pick trade in the world "Omg bat pick was so and so".
It's like saying imagine if the Oilers had of taken Mathew Tkuchuk instead of Puljujarvi, but the rumor was that they had Sergachev in their radar until CLB took PLD.
Jordan Eberle for Strome was strictly and cap move and the thought was Puljujarvi was ready for a top six RW spot. That hasn't worked out yet. Not saying it was a good trade or defending it at all, Just saying a little reasoning behind it. 😀 I wish Eberle and a 1st could have gotten a top 4 D man. 😄😄. The game has drastically changed to speed and skill over the last few seasons.
I really like Chia making a minor trade for a little shake up tho since the coach and GMs jobs are apperently safe for now. Last season I was so mad at Chia for not doing anything in the season before Christmas. Could have replaced Sekera (injury) start of season not give fringe guys bigger roles, Could have gotten a winger, needed a backup once LB played back to back nights in Toronto and Montreal when talbot was I just in November. Waited until Jan to trade for Montoya. Those little things are crappy. So in glad he has at least made a minor trade now early this season.

10.) 17 Nov 2018 15:52:06
The thing is yup he was projected to go 8th overall then fell. Before his injury he was projected to go 3rd overall. He was clearly the best choice.

11.) 17 Nov 2018 19:30:03
@yupp, you’re right no one knows for sure, but that the way it is. Leafs traded a pick that became Seguin. Kessel and Seguin are forever linked. Canucks traded Schneider for 9th overall and drafted Horvat with it. That’s what’s always going to be the assumed return.

I could assume that Burke would have taken Gudbranson at 2nd instead of Seguin and Duncan Siemens at 9th he next year instead of Hamilton, so we stole that Kessel trade, but reality is bruins gave us Kessel and got Seguin and Hamilton. Islanders gave oilers Reinhart and got Barzal And Beauvillier (eventually)

12.) 18 Nov 2018 01:58:31
i always liked that schnieder trade, that was a fun draft to watch, i mean vancouver traded the wrong goalie i guess, schnieder was lights out for a long time with no help in front of him in jersey, has definately fallen off hard in the last calendar year. while bobby lou is also still playing good puck,

Bruh to take on zaitsev the sweetener won’t be just brown and a 3rd lol it’ll be more substantial than that. He’s pretty brutal and leafs sure kicked theirselves in the butt giving him that contract. I honestly can’t even think of any team who would want him tbh similar to looch 😂.
