Sabres send 2nd round pick(Flyers) to Canucks, for Luke Schenn.
Sabres get a much needed physical, right shot defenseman, for the big playoff push, while the Canucks get a much needed draft choice for their major surgery.

1.) 07 Feb 2023 15:29:19
Good one Renidrag. Competition for Luke could easily make him a 2nd. He's performed well.

2.) 07 Feb 2023 16:06:48
Is Schenn someone the Leafs should target?

3.) 07 Feb 2023 19:41:02

Some of us really don't give a ratsass about the Leafs.

01 Feb 2023 19:30:55
Vancouver trades Boeser 25 % retained and Jack Rathbone to New Jersey for Shakir Mukhamadullin.

Devils get a proven scorer and a prospect defenseman, Canucks get a prospect defenseman, with decent upside, to help with their major surgery.

1.) 01 Feb 2023 22:23:17
I don’t see a problem with it at all, I wonder how they value Mukhamadullin.

2.) 02 Feb 2023 12:20:37
I feel like Vancouver could get a bit more for Boeser. At 25% retained, it would give him a 4.9M cap hit which is very decent for a top 6 forward. I could see picks being included with Mukhamadullin

3.) 02 Feb 2023 13:48:20
If Devils want to add a pick or 2, I would think it would be a mid pick like a 4th or so.
Devils might not have the cap space so maybe a a player like McLeod would be involved.

27 Jan 2023 14:01:48
Toronto trades Alex Kerfoot to Chicago, 50% retained, to Chicago, for future considerations.

Toronto gets some much needed capspace for any potential other trade, the Blackhawks get a player to help with their tank.

1.) 27 Jan 2023 15:48:32
Or leafs trade hit to Minnesota for a pick and 0 retention. I'd class kerfoot as a mid class rental depth peice and not a salary dump. So you would easily get a 4th from a bubble team looking for some depth. Or trade holl and send mann and simmonds to the minors for the same cap. They are more expendable for kerfoots special teams contribution.

2.) 27 Jan 2023 15:58:34
That’s just dumb the leafs just keep Kerfoot for a playoff run. He has been lights out for the leafs in playoffs. I think the leafs extend his contract in the off-season.

3.) 27 Jan 2023 21:33:45
Kerfoot is whats wrong with the Leafs in a nut shell!
Too small, to soft and at $3.5 mil too expensive for what he brings! Can wait to see him go!

4.) 28 Jan 2023 00:53:21
You’re talking about a guy who out produced Mathews and Marner in the 2021 playoffs.

5.) 28 Jan 2023 11:37:15
the issue with the leafs is they lack the physical play that wears down the opposing team over a 2 week battle.

6.) 28 Jan 2023 16:27:18
That’s what was said about the Penguins core and they won 3 cups.

7.) 30 Jan 2023 00:00:08
True. but the Pens stars rose to the occasion when needed.

8.) 30 Jan 2023 15:28:58
Then if the leafs stars don’t then they don’t and they won’t win the cup. it’s as simple as that the leafs need Rielly, Mathews, Marner, Nylander and Tavares ton carry the team due to cap structure. IF the leafs get a Stanley cup caliber Matt Murray who stands on his head like he did in Pittsburgh then the leafs can win.

9.) 30 Jan 2023 16:54:46
RENIDRAG: the only thing list as the cost of dumping Kerfoot is "futures".

Are you suggesting CHI lets the leafs dump salary at the draft at no actual cost, or are you thinking of something else?

In a cap-strapped league no one is giving that kind of cap relief for nothing, so I'm curious what you have in mind.

10.) 07 Feb 2023 12:04:19
Max pacioretty was traded to the canes for future considerations.

I think you're going to have to pay someone more to take Kerfoot.

Like someone above said, he's small, soft, and GROSSLY overpaid for what he does.

17 Jan 2023 02:22:50
Canucks trade Bo Horvat and Luke Schenn to Bruins, for Trent Frédéric, Brett Harrison 32nd OA pick, 3rd in 2024 and cap dump Reilly.

1.) 17 Jan 2023 03:36:51
Why would van take a cap dump. first things first is to get cap flexibility. horrible.

2.) 17 Jan 2023 13:24:26
Canucks will get better offers than that.

3.) 17 Jan 2023 14:32:53
Here's how i see it. 1C Rental + Top 6 Defensemen for 4th Line Grinder, Alright Prospect, 3rd & Cap Dump? They can get better offers in my opinion.

11 Jan 2023 19:45:30
Canucks trade Andrei Kuzmenko to Edmonton for Reid Schaeffer.

Edmonton gets an inexpensive top 6 forward, Canucks get a young prospect.

1.) 12 Jan 2023 00:39:43
No way VCR moves out an exciting new player when they’re ready to start a rebuild.

2.) 12 Jan 2023 13:33:34
Kuzmenko is almost at a PPG production. He's a solid rental option for 950K AAV. If the Canucks decide to trade him, GMs of teams that are tight under the cap will start bidding, since he's the perfect top 6 rental option for them. Schaeffer is not going to be enough

3.) 12 Jan 2023 15:38:08
At matador

The Canucks would gladly take another pick or young player, if they can get it.

4.) 17 Jan 2023 03:30:44
You think kuzmenko will resign with edmonton after being wined and dined at Joey's?!?!?!?! Hahahhahahhahahha okay. ?.

JT Miller 50% retained, to any team willing to take on the POS

24 Mar 2022 12:20:58
I am hoping to see a team like Detroit and Ottawa offersheet some cap-strapped teams.
Just using Vegas as an example, both Nicholas Hague and Nicholas Roy are RFA and Vegas has no cash available.
Sure they might get someone to take on one of their contracts, but is that enough.
Signing Roy at under 1.35 has no compensation and sign Hague for the 1 year for 2million costs a 3rd tound pick.
It would look real good on Vegas.

02 Mar 2021 06:08:08
Calgary trades somebody for something.

1.) 02 Mar 2021 13:31:48
How about anybody for anything? With various picks from either side to even out value.

2.) 05 Mar 2021 04:56:08
I like it, seems like a good trade for both teams.

16 Jul 2020 11:58:42
I know Leafs fans won't agree withis, but I expect that if Toronto makes a trade of anyone of the top 4 paid forwards, they will be disappointed with the return.
In order for that team to get better, they need to free up apace, which is essentially a ap dump, so I don't expect to see the Leafs getting a major haul when/ if the do trade one of those players, I expect they will get a fair trade, which h would get them a quality defender and some other pie as.

1.) 16 Jul 2020 14:05:34
I think they could get good value for Nylander. Tavares just won’t be moved because that’s would just be the absolute lowest thing the organization could do. Marner and Mathews are to expensive to be traded for imo.

2.) 16 Jul 2020 14:55:09
If anyone would go, I agree it'd be Nylander. I also agree with the return being underwhelming, tho.

3.) 17 Jul 2020 02:40:16
The return could be underwhelming as mentioned but it depends on what Leafs want in return.

Nylander for a Dman of similar caliber 1 for 1 hockey trade isn’t out of the question right?

Although wingers for Defenseman is a different story than a Center.

4.) 17 Jul 2020 03:21:39
Nylander is on a great contract. I think it’s much more likely that you see a Kapanen+Dermott or Liljegren type trade. By themselves those players hold decent value, but together they hold very good value and could get you a very solid defenceman.

5.) 17 Jul 2020 14:10:06
In fairness to the Leafs other then McD no big contract player who makes over $10 mil per their team won't receive what they are worth in this C-19 cap uncertain NHL.

28 Jun 2017 15:38:44
Have a feeling Tavares is going to be moved. With Barzal coming and a couple nice picks from Harmonic deal, looks more like a teardown is going to happen in NYI than a strong support group for Tavares.
Watch for Montreal or Columbus to be players here.
Montreal could offer up Galchenyuk along with 1st round picks in 18& 19.
Columbus could offer up someone like Jenner and a couple 1sts.
Just a hunch.

1.) 28 Jun 2017 16:12:40
He will stay where he is. As much as i would like him with the Habs, he isn't going anywhere.

2.) 28 Jun 2017 16:20:17
If he does become available, In sure Habs as well as many other teams would be figuring out how to get him. Unfortunately for us Habs fans, many other teams can mak a way better offer than Bergevin could. Not to many future assets or current ones on Habs that would interest Snow.

3.) 28 Jun 2017 17:05:33
I guess they traded for eberle for his experience in rebuilds then lmao.

4.) 28 Jun 2017 17:42:35
Agree Dr Drai.

5.) 28 Jun 2017 22:43:01
Isles just traded for Eberle to give Tavares a quality winger. Tavares isn't going anywhere.

Aidan McDonough is on the reserve list.
Canucks drafted him a few years ago, currently in college.

I would think the Canucks would be focusing on Kuznetsov from the Flames and the Horvat return is meh.

I am a Canuck fan and I really like Horvat, but I have been following Nemec for about 3 years, the kid is going to be a true #1.
Canucks would be adding to get him.
