Habs have interest in meier

Mtl- harris-ylonen-dvorak- panthers 1st in 2023 and a 3rd in 2024

1.) 05 Feb 2023 03:42:12
Ridiculous to suggest that a rebuilding team like MTL would consider something like this.

2.) 05 Feb 2023 18:42:52
Montreal already has a group of young players in Meiers age range and there not giving up too much value so I don’t think it’s ridiculous for them to make this trade.

3.) 06 Feb 2023 00:17:56
Not trading away that Florida pick.

02 Feb 2023 21:12:58
Mtl- edmundson-savard- armia 33% retain

Wsh-mantha-1st pick- one of protas, lapierre or mcmichael

Mtl- allen

Buf- 3rd pick 2023, comrie

Mtl- monahan- buff 3rd pick

Col- 1st pick 2023

Mtl- harris- 3rd pick 2024

Edm- bourgault- 1 st pick 2024

1.) 02 Feb 2023 23:23:08
Yes to the first trade, no to the rest.

2.) 03 Feb 2023 02:28:34
Would like to keep either Savard or Edmundson to mentor the young guys. I think it would be a mistake to get rid of both at the same time. Although Matheson is a veteran, i think the other 2 play that big brother role to the kids a little better.

3.) 03 Feb 2023 10:32:28
I misread that. Agree with Sosa, no to all?.

4.) 03 Feb 2023 16:06:30
Not exactly sure what Harris has done to get a first or Bourgault let alone both. Also I have a feeling Monahan gets a conditional 2nd for some reason.

5.) 06 Feb 2023 17:36:54
EBS: I completely agree with you on the proposed Harris trade for Borg + 1st, and Monahan getting a conditional 2nd.

Any team trading for Monahan should definitely attempt to get him for a conditional pick based on his ability to stay healthy, which is still very much an open question.

Habs- edmunson-armia 33% retain 3rd pick 2023

Wsh - mantha-1st pick 2023

Habs-monahan 50%retain

Col- 1st round pick

1.) 19 Jan 2023 12:35:06
I'm not sure why WSH would want to trade away Mantha. They have weak wingers and they would trade one of their few wingers who is over 0.5ppg. Remove Mantha and the 3rd, retain 50% of Armia's cap hit (which gives him a 1.7M AAV cap hit) and add a guy like Aube-Kubel to make the trade work under the cap and it could work value-wise. But I don't really see it happening since it's not really an attractive trade in WSH's perspective

The 2nd trade could make sense, but if I were Colorado, I'd wait a few games until Monahan is back from injury to make sure that his play is at the same level he left off

Habs fire sale

Anderson to cgy for lucic,pelletier 2ndpick 2024

Edmunsonn to ottawa for joseph

Try to flip drouin and dadonov half retain for any taker lol

Monahan to boston for craig smith and first pick 2023

Buyout hoffman and armia save 5m lose 3.3 in 2

Habs go hard on horvat and dumba in free agents or oreilly ,severson

1.) 05 Jan 2023 14:27:42
Flames won't give up Pelletier, he's one of their best prospects. Adding Anderson is unrealistic because they won't have the cap space next season once Huberdeau and Weegar's contracts kick in, Lucic is the only big contract off the books next season.

2.) 05 Jan 2023 14:30:22
Flames counter : Josh Anderson to CGY for 1st, Jeremie Poirier, Milan Lucic & Kevin Rooney.

3.) 05 Jan 2023 17:57:42
Habs respectfully decline Pelletier and any other lowball offer that includes marginal prospects with French surnames.

CGY fans seem to love Pelletier, so why not keep him?

Anderson isn’t on the market, but attracts the most interest from other teams. A lowball offer like this won’t change anyone’s minds.

Edmundson is expected to bring back the same kind of return as Chiarot did, so this OTT deal won’t cut it.

Last but not least, there is no two bigger NHL rivals than BOS-MTL, so it’s unlikely they get together on this or any other trade.

4.) 05 Jan 2023 20:41:54

I could see the Boston trade happening. Monahan's a rental and I don't really see why the habs would care if it made the Bruins better since they themselves are not making the playoffs. If he plans on re-signing there though, that might change things

5.) 05 Jan 2023 20:43:09

Let's not forget that the habs traded Plekanec as a rental to the leafs a few years back so trades between rivals is still a possibility

6.) 05 Jan 2023 23:20:25
Do you really think if Montreal can get a 1st or equivalent to one for Anderson they wouldn’t make the trade? Seems like a no brainer to get out of that contract and get a high pick/ prospect for the rebuild.

7.) 06 Jan 2023 13:39:38
MUSTA - trading between rivals can only happen if there's an overpay in play. Plekanec brought back a 2nd, if memory serves, which was a HUGE overpay in my mind.

I guess I still see it as "possible" but "unlikely" that Monahan returns a 1st. It will obviously depend upon how he plays when he returns, and if he can stay healthy. I suspect a 2nd or an equivalent prospect would be more likely. I see the Avs as the most likely destination.

8.) 06 Jan 2023 13:50:59
EBS - Anderson isn't on the market. BUT. if someone offers a can't miss offer for him they'd have to consider it. Such an offer would have to include a 1st without question.

Sometimes each of us just don't see the value in a particular player, and I respect that you don't see the value in Anderson. However, even if you just go by what Hockey writers and pundits say, Anderson is clearly worth more than a 1st.

Also, at 5.5M x 4 more seasons, he is a great value contract, and is seen as such. (Especially as the cap rises. )

At 6-3, 227 lbs, and given his speed, physicality, and productivity, he and his contract aren't the albatross you make him out to be. His speed gave opposing D fits in the Habs run to the finals, and that's probably why GM's that call on him want him in their lineup.

I respect your point of view, but I think the prevailing consensus on Anderson is that hockey people hold him in much higher regard.

9.) 06 Jan 2023 14:33:47

If the Bruins aren't willing to give out a first, then I doubt MTL makes the trade. A 2nd line center with good offensive upside, good defensive abilities, good at faceoffs on an expiring deal is a hot commodity at the deadline. The habs can also retain half of his contract to make the trade fit under the cap so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of teams ask about him.

10.) 06 Jan 2023 14:35:08

I do agree though, that teams might be a little more cautious to pull the trigger since he's injured. If his play stays the same once he comes back, chances a lot of teams are calling and MTL asks for a first

11.) 06 Jan 2023 18:47:40
MUSTA: I agree there will be a lot of teams interested in Monahan, but I see him as a solid, veteran, 3C whom you trust to play 8-10 solid minutes each night while crushing it in the dot. That's it, that's all.

Monahan will move and help someone, and the combined return of CGY's 1st to dump him plus whatever MTL trades him for at the deadline will be a tidy piece of business for MTL. I just don't see the B's as a fit, nor do I see them giving up a 1st for what Monahan is in 2023. Time will tell.

Mtl- edmunson

Edm- puljuarvi-bourgault

1.) 14 Dec 2022 07:14:04
This isn't bad, I was thinking of this actually the other day. Edmunson is exactly the type of Dman the Oilers need.
Puljuarvi needs a change, im not 100% sold he can turn it around, and maybe a pressure city isn't the right situation for him, but he has all the physical tools to be a good player. But its mental with him. maybe one of the Southern American teams would be a good fit?
I'd still give him a shot in Montreal, see what he can do.

2.) 14 Dec 2022 13:30:17
can't see Edmonton giving up bourgault in this deal. maybe a 2nd rd pick.

3.) 16 Dec 2022 01:22:52
Retain 50% on Edmonston then not bad. I’ve had the pleasure of watching Bouragult live at the memorial cup. He is one heck of a prospect.

Mtl- byron 33% retain- brooks-deslauriers- 2nd pick 2020

Vegas- tuch-reaves

1.) 28 Jun 2019 02:23:33
Vegas says no.

mtl- peca-lindgren- 2nd pick 2019 and 2nd pick 2020

clb- murray

1.) 16 Jun 2019 18:46:44
I'd do that from MTL if clb is willing.

2.) 17 Jun 2019 02:00:28
I would say this is a No from CBJ. I think they would rather keep Murray then trade for a bunch of pieces.

Too much quantity over quality.

18 Jan 2019 01:16:11
Cgy- frolik-kyllington

Mtl- kulak-hudon

1.) 18 Jan 2019 01:35:20
No from calgary

09 Jan 2019 23:22:36
Line up i hope to see next year for the habs:

We should sell tatar and petry now since their value his high right now for a left D or picks and go after gardiner.

Petry seems a fit for toronto / tampa / edmonton (wont waive his clause for edmonton).
Tatar seems a good fit for col / nsh / car/bos / edm.

1.) 10 Jan 2019 00:54:34
If the return is real good I wouldn't mind trading petry and or tatar. But we don't really need to and unless there is a good young player coming back that can jump into the lineup next year to help fill the loss then it's going to create two big holes. I mean we can sit back and say brook can replace petry and suzuki can replace tatar and maybe someday they will but right now they can't. ollofson has been injured since we got him and I wouldn't be hoping or planning on him filling a spot on our blue line next year. Also I feel there is zero chance ( or close to it) that ryan poehling will be on the top line next year and possibly ever also two right shots on a line with kotkaniemi and I hope we don't have to play agostino next year.

2.) 10 Jan 2019 01:41:50
You really want Poehling and Suzuki as top 6 next season? They aren't ready. going to be a couple years before they are NHL regulars. let alone top 6 . I see Suzuki a potential top 6, however I see Poehling as a 3rd line good 2 way centerman. don't let the World Jrs fool ya, he won't be that dominant in the NHL. I think a good player, just not an offensive star .

3.) 10 Jan 2019 22:09:27
Mtl picked Phoeling knowing he will not be a star at the nhl level but definitely going to be a center in the nhl probably Mikael Backlund type center. Exellent third line center, good second line center.

07 Jan 2019 23:14:30
Pro hockey runora says prize for martinez is a 2nd and good prospect

If van retain, do they have to retain on the contract extension as well? If they do, impossible, vancouver wont retain 4m on 8 a year contract.

If Weber retire, the penalty is humongous for Nashville, they should try to acquire the contract to keep control on it.

Holtby could be a good fit in carolina but the owner won't have the money too sign him.
