Toronto trades N.Robertson & kerfoot
Minnesota trades M.Dumba & M.Foligno
Toronto trades Sandin & petan
Philadelphia trades Konecny
1.) 24 Mar 2021 11:13:19
Both of these heavily favour the Leafs. No on both.
2.) 24 Mar 2021 12:48:03
First one I think Toronto would say no or would need heavy retention on both players.
Second one Philly says no in a heartbeat. They need défense but would need a better return than only Sandin.
15 Feb 2021 19:01:19
Just a few idea's
Calgary offer: Bennett, Hanafin & 1rst 2021, 2023 to Pittsburgh: Malkin
Boston offer: Debrusk, John Moore and 1rst to Pittsburgh: Letang & 2nd
Toronto offer:Kerfoot, Engvall
San Jose offer : Meier & future
Toronto offer Sandin & Nylander
Minnesota: Dumba & Foligno & 1rst
1.) 15 Feb 2021 20:00:28
Malkin is old, declining quickly and overpaid for what he is now.
2.) 15 Feb 2021 21:30:14
The worst of the 3 by far is the 2nd deal. San Jose never answers your call again after that offer.
3.) 16 Feb 2021 01:26:23
Calgary is giving up youth but nothing as good as Malkin. This first 14 games is the first time in 9 seasons he hasn’t been over a point per game and that can change quickly. I could see it taking that much to trade for him. Also super easy no from San Jose. And no from Toronto in the Minny trade.
4.) 16 Feb 2021 06:57:19
Kerfoot and Engvall for Meier and a future piece??? I think I died and came back to life reading that. And if PIT is going to trade Malkin, it’s for a better package and also a RHD.
5.) 16 Feb 2021 15:26:53
That San Jose/ Toronto one is terrible. Kerfoot is nothing special and makes $3.5M. Hard to pull any value out of that with the cap the way it is for most teams. And most teams have 3-4 of their own Engvalls sitting there, often making less than his $1.25M
Meier is worth a ton more than that, and then you have “futureâ€, like the sharks owe leafs something more down the road? Woof lol.
6.) 16 Feb 2021 15:32:42
The other leaf one would be a no from Toronto The flames one is hard. It’s a lot to pay for an aging player but getting a true value on players like that is really hard.
And I wouldn’t make that trade if I were the Bruins. Bergeron and Marchand are aging, they’re going to want that influx of good young players from a 1st soon and also DeBrusk I feel is a good fit there.
7.) 16 Feb 2021 17:25:39
1st trade isn’t bad in a vacuum but the pens don’t need a LHD they actually need to trade one. 2nd trade is definitely one of worst I’ve seen. 3rd trade again when you’re doing good why break up the team chemistry. I’d love to bring Marcus Foligno to the leafs in a smaller deal tho.
8.) 16 Feb 2021 23:11:29
I once again agree 100% with Sampson
21 Oct 2014 16:15:13
WOW finally looks like Shanahan is involved in moves.
Oilers dangling RNH for Bernier. Shanny approves 2yrs at 900k per to sign friend Brodeur.
1.) Doubt it.
2.) Who said this?
3.) You realize Nonis is the one that makes the moves, right?
4.) LOL! Anyone who believes this trash needs their head examined.
5.) Are the Oilers strong at Centre or weak?
Eberle for JBernier yes for Edmonton but Edmonton would have to add Scrivens for that to work.
6.) RNH for Bernier? Edmonton says no. That would be a steal for Toronto
7.) Would love either trade for the Leafs but they would have to add, probably Gardiner and a mid/late rd pick coming back
8.) This trade will not happen and I agree that RNH for Bernier isn't "fair", however I doubt Toronto has any interest in trading their goalie of the future away.
So hypothetically speaking, if Edmonton has called saying we want Bernier, why would Nonis be complacent in only accepting what Edmonton would WANT to trade? He can set the price at anything he wants, and if Edmonton is willing to make the trade then he can do it. In other words why ask for less than RNH?
9.) RNH for Bernier/ is like asking LA for Jonathan Quick in exchange for Sid Crosby in Pittsburgh eh! lol

It time to sell high on RNH so Edmonton can get the Big D out of Phoenix. Build the deal around these two.
1.) 01 Jan 2023 23:24:21
You don’t move a player like Nuge if you’re contending.
23 Mar 2021 23:56:07
Ekholm...Delzotto...Dumba..
All three are plus defenders on bad teams.
18 Mar 2021 21:44:21
I love the responses to my last post. I wrote it hoping for those chats. Amazing. Thank you.
Now seriously for a few Leaf idea's
Nick Foligno is a free agent at years end and the perfect pick up for this Leaf Team. "Period".
What do you think it would cost?
How about adding Savard to the deal now what's the cost?
07 Mar 2021 18:44:32
Is Paul Stastny destined to anchor the third line as a Leaf?
Would Eric Stall be a fit?
How about Nick Foligno?
The Leafs have picks to trade and want a third line center.
I say call Columbus and bring in Foligno.
1.) 07 Mar 2021 20:24:27
Why would the Jets trade Stastny? , especially to the Leafs. they are in the thick of the race for top spot with the Toronto. i'd say he's the last of the 3 you mentioned . I could see Staal.
2.) 08 Mar 2021 00:12:21
Jets shouldn't and won't trade Stastny. The most likely candidate is Granlund from NSH, although I could see Staal if the price is right.
3.) 08 Mar 2021 12:22:10
I think he meant when Stastny’s contract is up after this season. Could be a good fit but Stastny would probably want a little more than Toronto can afford
4.) 09 Mar 2021 16:09:57
Oh god.
Not another leafs waterhead. 🤦ðŸ¼â€â™‚ï¸
Yes, whatever player you want the team he plays for will definitely trade him to the leafs and for pocket change. How about Malkin for a 5th in 2023? Too expensive? You should email the leafs all of your terrific ideas.
Stastny, Jesus. Gimme a break. 🙄.

I hope they work something out to keep Nylander but if a trade needs to be done how about trying to land Pietrangelo from St.Louis? Cap hit is only 5m and 2 more yrs after this one.
1.) 06 Oct 2018 17:14:46
But why would the blues do this?
2.) 06 Oct 2018 17:16:37
Pretty sure Blues have no desire to get rid of Pietrangelo. he's one of the best all around Dman in the game, in his prime. teams typically don't trade them guys. Well except a couple Eastern Canadian teams not named Toronto.
Nylander is a really good player, and has an even higher ceiling that what he has shown , I just don't think Blues want to part with a franchise Dman for him.
How bout something with the Canucks, try and get Tanev, and a decent prospect with a 2nd to 3rd as well.?
3.) 06 Oct 2018 18:41:44
Blues have no need to move pietrangelo. He’s so good, still prime age for a few years, signed cheap and they have lots of young offensive talent on the verge of making an impact.
4.) 06 Oct 2018 19:11:26
Their kinda in a bad spot with nylander if they cave then other rfas know that they can get their own way they Can't lose. A trade isn't a win but it isn't a lose either.
Anybody else think that shanahan might have made a mistake saying they should take less to stay together? Might have made them feel alienated.
5.) 07 Oct 2018 04:34:25
They have to stay firm on Nylander. It sucks not having him, but you’re right, caving to him is caving to Marner and Matthews too. I think he will come around.
There’s actually a loophole in the CBA that if a player signs a multi year extension after the season starts, the cap hit, that is supposed to be even across all years of the deal, are actually heavily weighted to year 1. Because it takes the salary and divides it by days in the season.
For example:
If leafs sign Nylander to a 5 year extension at $7 million
On Oct 15th the cap hit for this season is $7,386,207 for year 1 and $6,909,977 for years 2-5 or:
On Nov 1st the cap hit for this.
6.) 07 Oct 2018 05:57:00
@theblackalpaca
I think Shanahan was referring to the “hometown discount†that the guys in Detroit were willing to take in order to remain together in order to win the cup multiple times.
If Shanahan, Yzerman, Lidstrom, and the other dozen hall of famers on that team we’re willing to work together with management in order to remain competitive for so long, then the guys in Toronto should be as well.
Nylander of all people doesn't need the money. Winning should mean everything to this kid, and it obviously means nothing. We should deal with him like Sakic did O’Reilly and trade him to the lowest bottom feeding in the west, where he will never so much as smell the playoffs. And after his career is over and Leafs have won championship multiple times and Nylander has nothing to show for his career but a few extra bucks, he can look back on this moment as the worst decision he ever made in his life.
7.) 07 Oct 2018 06:09:13
@unbiasedjim
I had no idea about that clause in the CBA. That’s actually a rather fascinating little known obscure piece of trivia you threw out here. Very interesting. Something to keep in mind. For what I’m not too sure. But knowledge is power.
So if we end up signing Nylander right before the deadline where he loses the season, cap hit can be fairly significantly reduced the remaining years of the contract duration. All the more reason for Leafs to hold out and let Nylander sweat it.
8.) 07 Oct 2018 06:29:58
@leafsgm
The Detroit team decided to do it on their own I think. I'm not entirely sure.
The leafs might have done it on their own as well. I think that him coming out and saying they should was the wrong thing to do. Me personally I might have done it but being told I should would just make me dig in and not take less than I deserve. The.
9.) 07 Oct 2018 14:00:17
Nov 1st would have a cap hit of $8,034,395 for this season and $6,781,720 for years 2-5 or:
Dec 1st would have a cap hit of $9,601,575 for this season and only $6,555,914 for years 2-5.
So as the leafs have tons of unused cap space this season, they could absorb the huge penalty this season, have him at a $6.5 mill cap hit that they’re comfortable with for the next 4 years while he gets $7 mill that he likes more obviously. I don’t know if this is what dubas is counting on, but he does have Brandon Pridham as his new assistant GM who was involved in writing the Bylaws of the CBA for the league.
10.) 08 Oct 2018 00:38:34
From what I remember with the Trouba hold out the other year, there’s a date he has to be signed by. I don’t think they can sign Nylander after like December 15th or something.
11.) 08 Oct 2018 05:54:59
@Ebs, If he’s not signed by December 1st, he can’t play this season. That’s why I posted the latest date of the loophole at Dec 1st. That’s when the biggest gap between year 1 and years 2-5 would be, so that would be a nice time to sign it, however it’s also very last minute if something doesn’t get signed, it would cost us the year.
23 Mar 2021 23:57:20
No thanks. T. O need a stud Defender.
06 Oct 2018 16:52:07
Do not trade all these picks for one player. Its takes one injury to put the leads back to the 80s.
11 Feb 2018 21:52:37
Terrible offer. Why would Toronto trade Martin for a 7th and over payment for green. Sosh is a real Player and a keeper to replace Komorov. Hope the Leafs stand pat. Next season is the one.
