its really not worth it If they were to buy out Bickell they would have cleared $3 million in space this year – as opposed to $4 million for trading him – and had to eat $1.5 million in 2017-18.
In other words they saved $1 million next season and $1.5 million the year after by trading Bickell. Is that, along with a mid 2nd and a 2017 3rd, worth parting with a 21-year-old winger with loads of potential? BAD TRADE.

Phaneuf, kozun, reimer (1 million retained on phaneuf)
For
Nugent- Hopkins, ference, fasth.
Leafs get a futur #1/2 center, replacement for phaneuf, and a new back up goalie.
Edmonton gets a 1/2 defencemen to mentor nurse, who is also a home town boy. A third line speedster who showed flashes of extremely good work ethic, and a goalie to compete with scrivens.
I have seen way worse trades on this site. bring on the hate.

Let's say the order of the draft goes in the same order as the odds.
1- buffalo
2- Edmonton
3- Arizona
4- Carolina
5- Toronto
Would the leafs have a shot at getting buffalos pick?
Buffalo - Toronto 5th overall and William nylander
Toronto - buffalo 1st overall
Would it happen?

I think it would be unlikely that Buffalo trades the first overall pick given the McDavid / Elchel seem to be the type of players that have elite level potential and that you can build a team around. Toronto would have to add more to convince buffalo to move that pick and right now the best move for toronto to make is to try and accumulate prospects and picks instead of trading them because they don't have enough to work with right now.

benn14, tbh I've never thought about it that way. and that helps me understand the way u guys think. because that proposal is definitely not enough (reinhart isn't as good as nylander potential wise but anyway) if you were a leafs fan, think about what ud want the other team to give up for him

BigZ - not be negative but Reinhart is a higher rated prospect than Nylander. Not to mention size. Check out Hockeyfuture if you want some independant info.

yeah I know, but I read up on all of this stuff, and I've heard a lot about the stunted growth of reinhart, but yes he is higher rated my bad
11.) All of this bickering over a pretend trade? It is highly unlikely that Murray would trade the 1st over all (if the Sabres were fortunate to win the lottery). But it was to be traded, think of the Lindros trade, essentially 6 players that were picked 30th or sooner. You may get Murray's attention with TML 1st three picks from this years draft, Morgan Rielly and William Nylander, but IMO Tim would still say no.

I guess you could say leafs fans were wrong. Although if you put it as fans on for leispic and the first. Santo for jokinen. Now it depends on what you get for jokinen.
