I love the Danault trade for the habs but as a 3rd c … now if Pittsburgh keeps going downhill, it opens the door for habs to make a move that would make them instantly legitimate contenders

And if st-Louis blues decide they want to throw in the towel… I would target parayko, a 6.6 rhd that’s quite mobile and a heavy body,,perfect to match with Hutson for the present

Van want picks, and is willing to move on from older players. Laine is a cap dump... which would involve high picks or better prospects.

Bumblebee there were already high draft picks mentioned. byt still, I wonder if all the turmoil in Vancouver where good players left (Miller, Horvat, Hughes leaving) has something to do with Petterson. Montreal passes.

It's possible, but sounds like it could have been a Hughes problem. Apparently after the dallas game, he knew he was traded and ditches the rest of the team, and fly to his brothers house in New Wark. He only had a couple players at his farewell dinner.

Big Z unfollowed on X because he doesn't like quitters.

Preds going nowhere fast again this season get Woll even though injured his ceiling is high, Domi fills in probably on the second line at Centre.
Leafs probably still looking for that Marner replacement and getting FForsberg would certainly help going forward this season.

Jesus man. The only way this works is on Chel with force trades on. Nashville may be going nowhere fast, but we aren't exactly playing lights out either lol. And just because they aren't playing well doesn't mean they are going to give top players away either.

Toronto needs to get a top notch goaltender, which has been lacking for years now. I would be looking to get that spot locked down first as there is enough scoring on the front end.

Teams are going to be wary about trading for the often injured Matthews and a declining Reilly. The Leafs won't get as much of a return for them as Leaf fans and media would would believe.

SOSA: I can see Matthews in LA, and I can see LA wanting Matthews. I can also foresee Treliving realizing the need to rebuild is now and grab some young players and picks for his star.

The decision-making in some markets is hampered for non-hockey reasons. Some owners meddle (VAN) and some take a long time to reach a consensus. (The leafs and flames fall into this category. )

I think you’ve tapped into something here with proposing a Matthews trade. Whether Treliving can convince the board of the need to trade Matthews to start a rebuild is an open question. Hockey reasons scream YES, but Rogers likes having him in their marketing campaigns too.

Though the return from LA likely to be quite as generous, and Rielly is unlikely to waive his NTC for family reasons, I think you’re on to something that may well happen this summer. 👍.

I think Mathews for Byfield and Clarke would be fair. Remove Rielly and the other pieces.
