I'm not sold on Zegras . I'd entertain that trade for a lesser cost.

If I’m MTL, I pass.
The kids has loads of talent, and while he’s only 23, he just doesn’t seem like the kind of guy you “win” with. (Winning will be the only measure of how MTL’s rebuild will be judged. )
I also think that ANA will want two more pieces, like a young D (which the Habs have lots of) and one more prospect.
Regardless, if ANA moves him, they’ll get generous return for this talented kid?.

Rangers fill out their defence with a good defensive defenceman with Stanley cup winner

Apparently the Rangers were shopping him, but took him off the market due to the low offers they were getting.
I'm thinking the Rangers would jump at an offer like this. I'm guessing they'll hope that a new year brings improved play, and perhaps a better offer for him at the trade deadline. At this point I think he is what he is, and I wouldn't give up more than a 2nd to get him.

Flames are clearly in a full rebuild , so I would target kadri

2025 first round ( Calgary or Florida) , 2025 2nd round ( habs got 3) , 2025 3rd round (habs also have 3) and Owen beck
To flames for :
Kadri ( 3 million retained, so would cost 4million per season for next 5 years until he’s 38yrs old)
Habs get a gritty skilled veteran cup winner center , perfect to center 2nd line for next 2-3yrs , then 3rd line for last 2yr

I'm pretty happy to see what we have now. Also remember Denidov will probably be here next year. I thimk Dach can be the 2nd line guy. Hopefully Beck can be the 3rd in a couple years. I think Kadri is a good player, I see why you'd like to add him, however I think he would be taking a spot of someone else who can do it.

Kadri can help a team, but is the wrong age for a rebuilding team. I’d rather keep all that trade capital and grow the team internally.

I saw the deal ducks offered to habs at the draft :
Zegras and second round (35 overall)
For Mailloux and 21st overall
Kent should call verbeek and offer Mailloux and Florida 1st
For Zegras and 2025 second round
That would give mtl 3 second round picks to trade back in 1st round

I seen that as well, I'm happy they didn't do it. I'd like to keep Mailoux. I doubt that Verbeek would accept Barron and the Florida pick and another peice. But I think Mailoux has a pretty high ceiling, wanna see how it turns out.

I like the talent Zegras has. but. u you do have to wonder why, on a young rebuilding team, Anaheim does not need / want him.

Well they do want him. I feel like guys like Zegras and Guadreau aren’t really players teams need more or less complementary offensive players. They are unreal with space but they need they need to be on the rush to create space or on PP under pressure they pretty useless but a guy like McTavish/ Leo can compensate for that. I can see him having a 90 point season on a line with Cutter and Leo/ McTavish.
Zegras-Leo-Terry-McTavish-Cutter is a very good top 6 and then you got Becket Senneke. I like what they’re dining there aside from that pick this year.

If Minnesota disappoint and aren’t near playoffs habs should try and pry kaprizov from wild at the 2025 draft to play with demidov

the 2025 draft should be the last of habs rebuild.. targets should be hagens (if they win the lottery), ryabkin (Russian center who would be perfect to play with demidov ) or Logan hensler (rhd to complete our right defence :

Habs apparently want Beckett Sennecke at #5 which is crazy, Demidov should be their selection if he’s available. If they want Sennecke why not just trade down and grab some assets?
