Elias Pettersson

Matt Barzal

Who says no?

1.) 04 Jan 2022 03:42:07
New York says no.

27 Dec 2021 15:34:19
Alexandar Georgiev

Mikko Koskinen 1.2 mil retained
2022 2nd
William Lagesson

Rags can decide between Koskinen and Kinkaid for backup

1.) 30 Dec 2021 21:36:38
Shouldn't cost that much for Georgiev IMO, but EDM definitely needs to replace Koskinen. If they take Koskinen a 2nd might be enough with no retention, as NYR has the cap space and that's all SEA got from WAS for Vitek Vanicek. EDM's 2022-2nd RD Pick is tied up as part of the Duncan Keith trade, so it'd have to be their 2023 Pick.

If NYR doesn't want Koskinen (likely), you could unload him on to Arizona or Buffalo for a late Draft Pick or Future Considerations since their current goalies would probably want some puck relief lol. Either of those teams could try out Koskinen and if they don't like him, they can let him walk through Free Agency, so no ties past this season. Again, NYR would likely prefer this to clear Georgiev's $2.425mil Cap Hit to pursue playoff rentals, so may even take a 2023-3rd RD Pick or a 3rd + another late pick if they don't have to take Koskinen back, depends on the demand for Georgiev's services.

23 Dec 2021 14:32:14
Jake DeBrusk
Zach Senyshyn

Kailer Yamamoto
Tyson Barrie

1.) 23 Dec 2021 16:47:52
Huge no from Edmonton. Senyshyn has next to no value.

2.) 23 Dec 2021 23:19:33
Senyshyn has asked for a Trade. Flames should consider him as they are in need of a Right Shot RW and should be able to get him for close to nothing, so not much risk imo. Definitely don’t want Debrusk though. I’d proposed Nikita Zadorov and something for LD Mike Reilly and RW Zach Senyshyn a couple weeks back.

3.) 24 Dec 2021 01:10:11
I think I'd prefer Senyshyn over Yamamoto. At least Senyshyn has good size. Not that I'd want either one.

I wouldn't want Debrusk unless he came real cheap and I wouldn't want Barrie at all. EVER.

I suppose it'd be a pretty even trade shuffling a few spare parts around but it doesn't really do anything for either team.

4.) 25 Dec 2021 03:21:00
You’re crazy. I’d take Yamamoto over Senyshyn all day, Barrie is also more valuable than Debrusk imo.

5.) 25 Dec 2021 11:04:15
Yamamoto and Barrie can both stay in Edmonton AFAIC. Or maybe trade Slewamoto to NJ where he can be friends with PK Slewban. :P.

6.) 26 Dec 2021 21:23:01
Yamamoto is definitely > than Senyshen, but I agree with @MoxNix, in that I'd rather have and take a chance on Senyshyn on the Flames anyways. We don't really know what he has to offer in the NHL, since he hasn't really been given an opportunity, but unless he's had a bunch of injuries or personal issues, he's still young and talented. Obviously because of size difference too. Yamamoto is very streaky.

21 Dec 2021 17:49:02
-Tyler Toffoli

-Kailer Yamamoto
-William Lagesson
-2022 2nd

1.) 21 Dec 2021 21:50:41
I don't know anything about Lagesson. i'm not all that high on Yamamoto. This isn't horrible, but i'd still be taking calls to see if anything a little better out there.

2.) 21 Dec 2021 22:22:09
I'm sure Calgary would beat that offer.

3.) 22 Dec 2021 01:46:24
Calgary would counter that easily.

4.) 25 Dec 2021 19:13:45
@sosahabs So you think the Habs would trade Toffoli?

I'm not sure they would but if so he'd be a nice pickup for the Flames. Considering his contract is reasonable and how badly they need a decent right shot RW who can score they should be willing to put a nice package together for him.

5.) 26 Dec 2021 21:27:16
The Habs should for sure try to cash in on Toffoli with a trade. His affordable contract makes him even more valuable and it's hard not to believe he would make an immediate impact, like he did for both Vancouver and Montreal when he was moved. Toffoli is another great option for the Flames and is definitely on my radar and Josh Anderson may be worth considering as well. As long as both are healthy that is.

17 Dec 2021 15:46:55
Personally think the Leafs need an upgrade on Mikheyev for 3Lw

Brandon Tanev

Ilya Mikheyev
2022 6th
2023 4th

Seattle retains half of Tanev's salary

1.) 17 Dec 2021 15:58:04
So, Seattle gives up the better player, retains and gets basically nothing for doing that? What's their incentive?

2.) 17 Dec 2021 18:29:41
They get someone younger who is really at end if season if I'm not mistaken.

3.) 17 Dec 2021 21:17:11
So again, Seattle is giving up the better player and retaining on him for a worse player that is a rental and only two years younger. What is Seattle's incentive to retain on 4 years of Tanev and to do that for nothing?

4.) 17 Dec 2021 22:12:02
You’re undervaluing Tanev by quite a lot. He is a great 2-way player on a very good contract, so they will get much better offers than that for just him alone. But You’re also asking for approx. $6.5mil in salary retention, which will need to be compensated for as well, since his contract doesn’t expire for another 4 years. What’s that worth? A lot more for sure.

Mikheyev has good size, speed, grit and decent defensive ability, but hasn’t been able to put it all together or put the puck in the net just yet. He will also scheduled to be a free agent after this season, so teams will be able to bid on him for free, without giving anything up. He might get traded at the deadline as a playoff rental, but Seattle won’t be in that discussion this year.

5.) 18 Dec 2021 01:13:57
I agree with Memarcus like Seattle is giving up the better player not to mention retaining his contract while only getting Mikeheyev who is worse and two low draft picks. Makes absolutely zero sense for Seattle.

6.) 18 Dec 2021 19:45:38
I like Mikheyev's potential. If he ever figures out how to put the puck in the net he'll be good. But at 27 years old already he may never figure it out.

I also think everyone is overrating Brandon Tanev by a lot.

I'd like the deal more with no retention or a higher draft pick to pay for retention.

7.) 19 Dec 2021 00:52:35
C’mon @MoxNix, the guy is consistent and reliable defensively and keeps getting better offensively every year. At $3.5mil, he’s great value too, but the fact he’s +5 and scoring above 0.50PPG in a 3rd line roll for the Kraken makes him a hero in my eyes.

8.) 19 Dec 2021 09:34:33
I agree MoxNix. The last two seasons he’s earned his contract but it’s by no means great value IMO. He’s 30 with a career high of 29 points.

9.) 19 Dec 2021 19:47:44
Oh Boy. It's pretty naive to judge a player solely on points alone without taking in to consideration their Role, # of Games Played and Average Time On Ice.

Tanev is a 3rd Line Defensive Player; he's not a Top-6 Offensively Minded Player. He only plays 14mins/ gm and gets little to no Power Play Minutes, yet the past 2 seasons, he's averaging 0.50PPG = 41pts/ 82 game season. Who else does that on the 3rd line?

More importantly, he's been considered for the Selke Trophy as the Leagues TOP DEFENSIVE FORWARD twice, he averages over 252 hits per 82 game season (he's currently 4th in the league for most hits this year), he blocks on average 1 shot per game and is an integral member on the Power Kill and dangerous there too; he's scored at least 1 Short Handed Goal in each of the past 5 seasons; averaging 2.72shg/ 82gms in that same span.

Elitepospects.com rates his Hitting at 19; Acceleration at 18 and Speed at 17. He's Fast, Mean, Smart, Gritty, Fearless AND CAN SCORE! His biggest knock against him is he could big bigger, but at just $3.5mil/ yr, I'd take this guy on my Team all day long.

10.) 20 Dec 2021 00:18:42
I agree the past couple seasons you could argue he’s one of the better bottom 6 guys in the league. But 3.5M isn’t a cheap contract. If he can continue putting up 40 point seasons into his 30’s then he’s worth it. But like you said he isn’t a top 6 and plays 14 mins a night, he isn’t worth 4M+. I’d take him on my team too. Also curious to know about this Selke stat, guys with 20-30 points don’t come close to winning Selkes.

11.) 20 Dec 2021 18:09:59
According to hockey-reference. com he placed 18th and 32nd in Selke Voting, which by my math would mean he’s considered one of the top 3-6% Defensive Forwards on NHL Rosters for those years.

12.) 21 Dec 2021 02:02:50
It's that time of year where Leafs' fans believe every team is going to retain 50% of a contract just to help the leafs lose in round 1.

Leafs need a culture change. Nothing going to change just by making trades. They got to start playing like NYI, Pitt, Bos, Col etc. The way they've been playing the last 3 years ain't sustainable to win SC. As a result, I think Keefe is the right coach for the team but we got to change the culture form speed, skill, offense and no physical contact to in your face, relentless forecheck, aggresive

I do think that it'll be very hard to make a trade involving one of the big 4 rn will be difficult.

However, I do think one player the leafs should trade for soon is
Max Domi

1.) 25 Oct 2021 16:30:28
Losing Hyman was a mistake on their part, he’s exactly what they need. They need players like Hyman, Coleman, Tkachuk, Gourde etc. Too soft and too much money tied into 3 players. Marner is still young so Tavares would be my odd man out but I doubt they trade him.

2.) 31 Oct 2021 10:22:15
Leafs need to trade two huge anchor contracts is what they need to do. Do that and free up decent cap space (cuz they’d definitely need to retain or take back a few mil) and they could be Cup finalists in a couple years.
Marner should be the top of the list regarding whom to shed. But given his contract and cost, good luck. Nylander would be next. More palatable, probably, to some teams.

06 Jul 2021 16:31:42
Looking like Martin Jones is going to get bought out.

If so I still think he could be a decent 1A/1B.

What do you all think? What team would take a chance on him?

1.) 06 Jul 2021 18:25:40
Toronto needs a starting goalie.

2.) 09 Jul 2021 01:14:57
memarcus joe is correct. but don't get used to reading that.

08 Jun 2021 23:19:17
To me I think Morgan Rielly could be traded to either Vancouver, New Jersey or Ny Rangers.

What do u guys think?

1.) 09 Jun 2021 22:02:13
Im not sure about his value to be honest. He wasn’t great against Montreal defensively. I’m assuming he’s still worth a late first + B prospect as a rental.

2.) 10 Jun 2021 02:37:45
Vancouver? Is Hughes going the other way? May as well trade for Yandel and Sign DeAngelo while they’re at it. How many Offensive dman do they need?

04 Jun 2021 01:13:43

Replace Thornton, Mikheyev, Engvall

Komarov, Martin, Brown

Would leafs still be playing atm?

1.) 04 Jun 2021 05:53:24
Connor Brown? If so he’d help. Mikheyev is good he’s be a loss. Engravil is okay. The other 3 suck.

2.) 04 Jun 2021 23:08:58
Connor Brown is better than the other three combined, pretty handidly. Martin and Komarov don’t really do much, but neither do Mikheyev and Engvall, so its essentially a wash with a downgrade on the defensive end but who really cares. If it meant *this* version of Connor Brown came back to the Leafs, it’s an easy yes from me.

02 Jun 2021 23:08:03
Looks like the leafs won't move one of the big 4.

What sort of moves do u think they'll make to improve the team?

Personally, I think signing a guy like Brandon Saad would be perfect

Maybe 4yrs x 4.5mil ?

1.) 03 Jun 2021 04:40:53
Saad, Garland or Dustin Brown are my gusses.

2.) 03 Jun 2021 16:31:05
Could see Blake Coleman too if they want that Hyman-esque player in their middle six.

I'd definitely say MacKinnon since when he came into the league the avs were pre bad. Matthews was surrounded by good players when he first got there and as a result, the team instantly became good.

How bout this. Matthews certainly a much better goal scorer but MacKinnon is the more complete player who can dominate the game in many ways.
