Looking at the draft order and seeing that there’s a few teams that just had an off year. Mainly speaking about:
New Jersey - 10th overall
Buffalo - 11th overall
Detroit - 15th overall
Ottawa - 7th overall ***
I don’t know if Montreal will trade up from the 5th overall so let’s pretend they keep their pick and likely take at that point Lindstrom.
Seeing that Eiserman is project to go anywhere from 9th to 13th (I mean he could go second for all I know at this point) I would love to see him go to Montreal to have a 1-2 with him and caufield.
Let’s say we get to New Jersey’s pick (or really any one of the above mentioned excluding Ottawa right now), I think there could be something that could happen with one of those teams. I think Buffalo could be the key team here in a trade proposal if Eiserman is still there.
Thinking of two potential trades:
Montreal receives
Buffalo’s 11th overall
Buffalo receives
Winnipegs 24th-27th overall
Barron
OR
Montreal receives
Buffalo’s 11th overall
Skinner
Buffalo receives
Anderson
Savard
Winnipegs 24th-27th overall
Looking at what buffalo needs/ wants, it’s a right handed defence-man. Looking at the first trade, they get a young right handed guy and a first round pick. It all depends on who is still around when the pick comes up but if there’s no solid right handed Defence, I could see them wanting Barron as all their Dmen are left handers.
Going to the second choice I think taking on skinners 9 mil for Anderson a 5.5 is a win for buffalo for cap plus they get a reliable veteran right handed Dman. Savard could mentor the younger guys and provide some stability for all the offensive minded guys. Anderson could use a change of scenery. Skinner could do really well in Montreal too. I believe a few years ago there was talk that skinner might get traded to Montreal. Now buffalo could be a bit closer to the playoffs but at the same time if Montreal gets Lindstrom and eiserman plus skinner, they could push for a spot as well. If Montreal is faltering they could trade away skinner as well at the deadline to a contender and retain salary for two years only.

Barron and 24th overall for the 11th overall??? oh boy that's god awful

What would it take to get the second overall pick from Chicago to Montreal?
Hearing Demidov is going to likely go second overall.
Seeing as Chicago needs some Dmen for their rebuild would there be a chance that a trade could materialize?
Chicago gets
5th overall
Harris
Kovecevich
Montreal gets
2nd overall.
1.) 12 May 2024 02:17:34
It would surely take more than that.
2.) 12 May 2024 13:17:09
You’d need to give up Roy or Malioux or maybe something like winnipegs 1st and a 2nd to move up from 5.
3.) 13 May 2024 06:34:35
Probably 5th plus futures like next years 1st or top prospect. Demidov can play with Bedard like no other prospect. They already have a pretty good de prospects. Del mastro, Allen, korchinski already in nhl. Plus more, they're getting the best available player. If they can trade down, fine but it'll cost alot.
4.) 13 May 2024 12:34:08
Chicago has some fairly good Dman prospects coming up. If I'm them I'm taking Demidov to pair with Bedard. If Habs want him that bad then they are going to pay for him. 5th overall, one of Roy or Mallioux, a 1st next year, and maybe another pick. Chicago has all the control and leverage in a deal for 2nd overall; so if someone wants it that bad they are going to overpay for it.
5.) 14 May 2024 06:53:09
I don’t think a 6th and 7th defensemen on a strong team are gonna cut it. Gonna probably have to part with Winnipeg’s 1st.
6.) 16 May 2024 00:51:46
think habs will have demidov at 5
1st sj: celebriny (no brainer)
2nd chi : levshunov ( Chicago will also trade Seth jones to Toronto for marner)
3rd Ana:silayev (they need dmen)
4th clb: lindstrom( they’ll opt for a center to pair with Fantilli )
5th mtl : demidov (thank you)

I made a proposal earlier but then started thinking.
Looking at a three way Canadian trade.
Leafs and Vancouver are win now with Toronto in a slight retool (wouldn’t even call it that) and Montreal is rebuilding.
Without getting into the major salary constraints let’s get to it:
First part:
Toronto gets:
Hronek
Joshua
Vancouver gets:
Marner
Now someone would probably have to add and obviously there would be a sign and trade I believe but I think if Marner is going anywhere he’s going to a slightly more ‘electrifying’ market
Toronto gets their top right hand Dman and the third line gritty center in Joshua.
Second part:
Montreal gets:
Tavares (no retention)
Toronto 2024 1st
One of mitten/ cowen
Toronto receives:
Savard (50% retained)
This is where Toronto pays for a rugged right hand Dman with experience and they get 11 million in cap space to allow for the Hronek signing. The 2024 1st is likely not a huge deal for Toronto but with no retention for Tavares, I think you got to throw in a decent prospect.
Third part:
Vancouver gets:
Matheson (50% retained)
Dvorak
Montreal gets:
Lekkerimaki
If Vancouver is an absolute no go with him then
2025 1st in protected
2026 conditional
Condition - if Vancouver wins the cup in 2024/ 2025 the 2026 is an unprotected 1st otherwise it becomes a 2025 2nd
Understanding Matheson is a lefty, he’s still super talented and Dvorak could slot into the third line
Again there’s going to be a ton of tweaks but kind of the just of it.
1.) 11 May 2024 11:48:18
This is just rediculous. Nothing even close to the actual value of the Leafs player.
2.) 11 May 2024 12:20:27
Marner an Tavares have 0 value unless you work out a sign a trade in my eyes. Would Tavares work on a third line? Probably. But not at 11 mil. I don’t even think at 5.5.
This is all based on Marner waiving his no move. If he doesn’t then nothing works. Same with Tavares. If he does, he likely won’t be accepting anything to a bottom feeder.
3.) 11 May 2024 12:55:38
doesn't fit with Montreal rebuild. aging and size if contract eliminates Tavares immediately, no matter what prospects you add.
4.) 12 May 2024 13:19:41
Tavares has 1 year left Lmao just ridiculous he won’t be moved he’ll ride out the contract for 1 year then sign a league minimum like Spezza. He’s also still a great player.
5.) 20 Jun 2024 22:46:24
Canucks do not want Marner. Overpaid and too small.
11 May 2024 03:18:23
Toronto receives:
Hronek
Joshua
Vancouver receives
Marner
All based on NMC being waived and I think too having a sign and trade in place
Hronek priced himself out of Vancouver as did Joshua but if they can move mariners 10.9 and then they will get rid of brodies 4.9 I think it is could make it work maybe?

Complete long shot but islanders should likely be going into a rebuild or at least a retool, Nashville is win now and likely 2 years from now before Josi is gone, and New Jersey is win now in likely the next year or two (letting their Dmen develop a bit) .
Looking at it this way, islanders receive their goaltender of the future and part ways with some older vets, Nashville gets a year younger starting goalie who is signed to a long term deal and is comparable to Saros (as he might ask for a bit more come next year) and New Jersey gets their goalie which they will have cap space to resign. Might be a bit of adding or subtracting but:
Islanders get
Askarov
2024 3rd jersey (for palmeri)
2024 2nd Nashville
Nashville gets
Sorokin
2024 1st (islanders)
Nelson (50% retained)
2024 1st (Jersey)
New Jersey gets
Saros
Palmeri.
1.) 26 Apr 2024 17:47:04
I mean this matches the timelines of each team really. Probably some tweaking here or there but I'd say it's a pretty fair trade all around. Maybe some more coming to the Isles?
2.) 27 Apr 2024 23:37:17
lol the Islanders get absolutely bent over a AHL goalie and 2 picks for a young goalie who was ranked as a top 5 goalie to start the season AND THEY ADD?
Askarov could be great but chances are he isn’t half the goalie as Sorokin at his peak.
3.) 29 Apr 2024 04:29:31
Nashville wins that by a mile.
