NY Rangers: Panarin (-50%)

Detroit: Danielson, 2026 1st, 2027 conditional 2nd round pick (The reserve pick is the second round if Detroit advances to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Otherwise, the reserve pick is the 2027 4th round pick. )

not a bad trade but based on what been reported can't see the wings making this trade with out an extension in place.

Canucks receive: Byfield, Greentree, 1st round pick 2026

Kings receive: EP40, Sherwood, Hoglander

Kings will need a top Centre when kopitar leaves and can do this before the trade deadline this year and They have the cap space to do it. Petterson can either play with Kempe and/ or Kuzmenko. Canucks get younger.

LA probably won't move on from Byfeild. Now that Sherwood is gone to the sharks.

I think EP40 for 2026 1st, 2027 1st, and Vojtech Cihar (2025 2nd round) would get the job done.

Thoughts behind this, EP40's training buddy is Adrian Kempe.

Vojtech played against canada for Czechia (good pedigree) .

Send some thoughts on this!

I think LA would be a good landing spot for the Canucks #40, but some retention would be necessary as #40 has a contract that is a bit rich, so Canucks would probably have to retain about 2-3 million.

From the Habs:
Hage
Engstrom
Gallagher/ Laine (cap dump)
2nd Pick 2026

From Nashville
Forsberg.

Not an awful trade. Dont think the Habs would do it tho. Forsberg would add alot to that team though and would likely pick his point production up as well.

I wouldnt move Hage. I know you cant always go by World Jrs( see Ryan Poehling), but this kid is gamer with alot more skill than I was aware. I want to see what he brings to next level.
Dont get me wrong, Forsberg would be great.

Thanks for the reply!

As a Habs fan, I also rather not trade Hage, but would you give Zharovsky instead? Pickford and a 1st is not enough.?

Forsberg is the perfect player to complete Suzuki and Caufield which will bring the team to a an almost contender level (depending on the goaltending) . He has one of the best contract in the league and was the best player of his team for years playing with nobody but Josi.

I think it's a fair trade for both!

I am quite content with the talent thr Habs have . I would like to see more gritty type of players to compliment the skill guys.

To Cgy
Patrick Laine 25% retained
1st rd pick

To Habs
Coleman
3rd

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Jan 2026 13:47:42
Too much for Coleman. He's a bottom 6 player with some upside which the Habs have plenty of.

If that pick is to get Laine's contract of the books, if I'm Habs management I'd rather keep the 1st since the contract expires this year. I also don't think Laine's value is negative once healthy, he's still a 25-30 goal scorer and would be a great PP asset on a lot of playoff teams

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2026 18:46:39
If they are moving off that contract it would have to mean

1) They are bringing in a bigger piece that's gonna eat up some cap

2) Habs management feel they can compete for a cup now

I think they'd be better off just staying the course. They've drafted exceptionally well; players are developing well; and because of it are ahead in their rebuild without any huge moves. Keep stocking the cupboard with prospects. Some to develop for the team and some to use as trade chips to add high end pieces.

I dont know how they do it, but Laine with McDavid??? Maybe???
I dont see a home for him now In Montreal, so if anyone wants him.. let him go, but I wouldnt send assets to get him out as he is gone anyway at end of season.
Not giving up a 1st for Coleman.. maybe Mesar.

Laine and a first for future considerations. Just like Monahan dump.

2 moves habs could do to improve odds in playoffs
1-I wouldn’t get in a crazy bidding war for him tho : Kiefer Sherwood
MTL sends : struble a 2nd and a 4th

To Vancouver for Sherwood
2- this happens only if Rangers collapse without shesterkin: panarin! I don’t think he’ll resign there so why lose him for nothing. This would let him get a feel of playing with Suzuki and Caufield or demidov and kapanen ( and hage).and give Habs an advantage to resign him
MTL send : Newhook, laine ,( engstrom or a 1st)

(Panarin-slaf) Suzuki Caufield
(Slaf-panarin) kapanen demidov
Bolduc. Danault Dach
Anderson Evans. Sherwood
Texier. Beck. Gallagher

Trade habs could do to add toughness for the playoffs
Montreal sends : laine and a 3rd rounder

To Vancouver for : evander kane
MTL saves 3.6 on the cap , Kane could play wing on the first with Suzuki and Caufield

Kane Suzuki Caufield
Slafkovsky kapanen. Demidov
Bolduc. Danault. Dach
Anderson evans Texier
Blais Beck Gallagher
( with possible hage coming in and being ready and impactful )

As a Canucks fan I think you should know Kane isn't anywhere near a 1st line player, you need toughness upfront, then Florian is your guy, Kane can't fight his way out of a wet paper bag.
Also, in order to eat Laine cap, I think a 3rd and Beck along with Florian and Hage would work.

Leafs - Mathews

Sharks - Misa, Dickinson, 1st and a cap dump.

This is a trade proposal that could be beneficial for both teams

Montreal sends : Dach,, 2nd round and Roy

To St-Louis for : Holloway

If the blues see Dach as a center ( I don’t for Montreal) this definitely works
Holloway is a left winger who already played with Caufield, both are same age and are rfa at end of season

Holloway Suzuki. Caufield
Slafkovski kapanen Demidov
Bolduc Danault Newhook
Gallagher. Evan’s Anderson

Believable2 Unbelievable1

01 Jan 2026 20:43:06
No from Montreal, Dach himself is worth more to Montreal then Halloway.

02 Jan 2026 19:51:31
I’d do it , especially if the habs feeling that hage is the future 2c and not a winger because I see kapanen as a potential elite 3c

Holloway Suzuki Caufield
Slaf. Hage. Demidov
Bolduc. Kapanen. Newhook
That’s a solid top 9 of the future
This makes dach expendable
The d core might be the best in the nhl in 3 years
Hutson. Reinbacher
Matheson. Dobson
Guhle. Pickford
This makes engstrom expendable
With Fowler in nets .. habs are looking like legit powerhouse in few years

EDM: quinn hutson

CHI: murphy (50%)

I like this move for edmonton. they get a very reliable big body defensive minded defenseman for their next run. he has the style and leadership similar to ekholm while playing 6 minutes less than he did last year on the 3rd pairing in chicago. they could make the 2.2m (50%) cap hit work and i think he would consider resigning with them

chicago gets a good natural right handed winger on their timeline.
